my right front strut makes a huge clunk noise when i back out out of my driveway. as soon as the wheel goess off the curb it sounds like the spring like pops off the strut. Also it rides very harsh can it be blown?

it sound to me like your max is now ging throught the same as everyone elses. your front end links are moving around causing a clunking noise that makes it seem like the suspension is loose. i replaced mine and through on some energy sway bar bushings at the same time. no more clunking! clean max by the way!

but this clunk is just crazy loud.. like a big thump i get scared that my wheel will fall off. its really loud. but i have been in a huge accident recently and that wheel hit a curb pretty hard so that probably is a big part of it

maybe you should have mentioned that before. now i think it could be more than just your strut. check if the tie rod end is busted the check if the the tie rod is bent, if the tie rod snaps off your wheel will pivot inward and fold down as your driving causing you to crash. might also be you hub bearing. check your axle as well to see if it is bent and of course inspect your wheel and tire from the inside

I urge you to take it to a mechanic..

A friend of mine curbed his 96 Beretta pretty bad.. but figured it was fine.. he actually managed to crack the control arm.. about 6k miles later it snapped in half and the wheel was only attached to the car by the strut, which bent, and ripped off, and snapped the axle.

If you don't know what to look fer, you really need ot have a professional look at it. They might charge you like $25-50 to do it, but its better than having a wheel fly off on the highway (which will cost a bit more than that).

Check the top hat bolt and make sure it is tightened all the way. My sway bar end links were blown and it made my wheel sound like it was going to come off but I'm not sure that's your problem.

Then I highly doubt it's the sway bar end links. Mine went bad and the noise isn't crazy loud. It just a little clunk over certain bump and not at all over certain bumps. Sounds like a bad strut to me.

just look at it, no need for a mechanic really. look make sure everything is connected and all rods etc feel solid and straight, comrare it to the other side if ness. most likely a busted strut mount or what progress said.

The only true tell tale sign is checking underneath the dust boot to see if there is oil there. When a strut blows it leaks oil.

ok, thanks. I'll check tomorrow, although I do recall seeing some black stuff on it when I removed it yesterday... I've only had them on for a little over a month.... why would it blow so soon? sitting on H-techs, and this is the rear strut....

Read the warranty information. I think it's on there.
