Which Ypipe?

Alright... I think I'm going to waste some of my income tax return money for a Ypipe... what one do you guys have or reccomend. I know you can't really go wrong with Cattman... but where is the cheapest place to get one? I didn't really want to spend more than $200... but I raised that limit to $350 (which is how much Cattman sells it for). Has anyone had issues with O2 sensors? Do they just plug right in? Help me out! Thanks!

Buy headers and call it a day. Y-pipes depend on if you have a cali-spec or fed-spec Maxima. For cali-spec, you only get rid of 1 precat - for federal-spec, you get rid of both.

Headers make more horsepower (obviously)

IMO here is the ranking of brands (others may disagree):

Hotshot
Cattman
Stillen
Warpspeed
Budget

Y-pipes are *terrific* on 5th gens, and ho-hum on 5.5 gens. Headers are great on both.

A y-pipe doesn't give "more gains" than headers on a VQ30. Headers still add more power than a y-pipe, but the additional hp gains may or may not be worth it given the additional parts and installation costs.

did you actually intend to mix y-pipe and pvc pipe in the same sentance, or were you thinking of intake and pvc? the latter seems more plausible or am I missing something. then again, I did hear MacGyver was your middle name.

I don't know much about y-pipes other than I hope to get one real soon..........I do know that redlinemax is (was) having a sale on the Aluninized y-pipe, for $175.00 + Shipping.........and I believe they also ell a SS for a bit more.............I did speek to Dallas from Warpspeed and he told me that a his Y-pipe made 18 hp on an automatic (2000), but remembered to point out to me that the car he tested it on was new, and I should remember to take a couple of hp off for a car thats not new..........

That's a possibility but I doubt it. If you're talking about the VQ30 the crank HP that is lost due to increased mileage will be negligable.
