5th gen clutch, SS line -- very satisfied

Just dropping a review.

I recently got my 5th gen clutch and pressure plate installed, along with a new throwout bearing, master cylinder, slave cylinder, and Techna-Fit stainless steel clutch line. I only have about 450 miles on it so far, but I like it a lot. The pedal is a little heavier than on my previous setup (stock lines, old hydraulics, 4th gen Exedy OEM replacement clutch), but it engages very smoothly and grabs more than hard enough (performance-wise, the car is bone stock).

The only sketchy thing is that it grabs really low -- almost on the floor. The hydraulics have definitely been bled, and I set the grab point as high as possible using the adjustment on the rod on the master cylinder. But, like I said, I only have 450 miles on it, so I guess I'll reserve judgment until it's finished breaking in.

Plus, the low grab point lets me shift faster.

I have to give credit to Tilley (TILLEYS99 on the forums) for the labor.

Installing the line and bleeding the fluid were easy tasks, especially because we were replacing the slave cylinder at the time -- we just kept it within easy reach and bled it before installing it.

You're gonna run a 5th gen clutch on your VQ35 swap?

UPDATE: About 600 miles now, and bloody hell is this setup awesome! It grabbed super-low and felt kind of hard for the first little while, but it feels nicer and nicer every day. Pedal effort is just right, engagement is SUPER smooth and progressive, and grip is outstanding. As far as I'm concerned, it's absolutely perfect.

How much did all that setup cost you, with the clutch lines and all except labor??

The clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and line ended up being about $220 shipped. The master and slave cylinders were another ~$130 on top of that; I only got them because mine were busted.

$220 shipped that sounds like a good price to me. Where did you go to get them? Local or online? Mine has 95k on it and is on its way so im going to do the 5th gen clutch setup because ive heard only good things about it.

Is the setup easy to install? Are there any modifications that need to be done? or is it a smooth replacement? thanks for the help

It's 100% plug-and-play. It's no harder than changing the clutch with 4th gen stuff. There is absolutely NO modification required.

I got everything but the line through DAVEB, and ordered the line directly from Techna-Fit.

Hi glad you like it!!! I got mine done too and yes the friction point is like 1/3 from the floor. It was like 2/3 from the floor with my 4th gen setup. I had it installed in the same time as my 3.5 swap. It's been 200 miles and still happy with the setup.

You're using the 5th gen clutch with a 3.5?? Please tell me more about your setup! I am considering doing the same thing and I was wondering how well this clutch would hold.

if you're asking those kind of questions, please pay someone else to change the clutch for you.
