It should be noted that the folks selling the CDs are profiting on things they didn't create (graphic designer here). However, most car companies have never sold their FSMs to the public, and accordingly it's a very gray area as far as intellectual property is concerned.
On that note, I think I'm going to send a pm too (presuming that low-post users can utlize that function).

I recently purchased the CD's for the 91-94 and also the 96-99 Maxima and they are both well worth it. As with all my software I try to burn the originals and also save it on a hard drive immediately.
There is a website mentioned somewhere in this forum that you can go to and download the FSM for your specific year. In other words instead of an FSM for 96-99 you get the FSM for that year. I have the FSM for 98 max.
Search the forums using Google:
www.maxima.org "Maxima.org Forums > Maxima Discussions > 4th Generation (1995-1999)" FSM
Or replace FSM with whatever else will yield results for you.
BTW: The FSM is a LARGE zip file so you will definately need to find somewhere to download it rather than have it e-mailed to you.

Adding the word download to the string given above led me right to the PhatG20 site. A short registration later, and I was able to find a rar filled with interesting information.
You can also download the FSM's from Nissan. Go to http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/nissan/ and select Online Subscription on the drop down on the left. You can buy a 1 day subscription for $20. I know you can get them cheaper (or free for the Maxima) but the subscription allows you to access all Nissan/Infiniti FSM's. My family has 5 different Nissan/Infiniti products and I was able to get a FSM for all of them for $20. Not a bad deal for those who can use it.

The problem with stickying them is their "gray" nature.
Even if you're only linking to copyrighted content, you can find yourself liable. Best to not draw too much attention to it(them). Just add enough text here that folks looking to "download Factory Service Manuals" or "download FSM" or "download shop manuals" can find this thread via the handy free search function (that really ought to have its own link on the menubar - just a simple conditional checking if they're allowed to have the search function enabled, and if not, display the alternate "free" search tool.
Would take all of 5 minutes (if you type one-handed) to implement that in the forum code. (just saying)

Although Im positive no one would ever bother the org about posting the FSM, even if they did its protected under fair use act

Like I said, it's firmly in a gray area, and running a car site myself; it's an area best left as acknowledged but not directly supported.
YMMV SPSFD
