Cracking/Buzzing sounds from the stereo

So I'm getting some sort of cracking/buzzing sound (not sure exactly how to describe it) from the radio every once in a while. Does anyone know what could cause it. It seems like it is only coming out of one of the speakers. It buzzes a few times and then stops. What makes this even more annoying is that it happens intermittently.

Thanks

What type of stereo system do you have?
Sounds like there's a loose connection or wire somewhere.

check the ground (black) wire on your speakers. one might be loose. any buzzing or cracking noise coming out of the speakers is most likely a bad ground

You need to isolate which speaker using the balance/fader. You might try playing it loud through each speaker individually. If it is a bad connection then the vibration might set it off and you'd know which speaker it is. If it's one of the back speakers it should be easy to tighten or clean up the connectors. Front speakers will be harder to get at, but you know that allready.

thats because of the magnet inside the phone and the speakers. i have nextel and i know that im getting a call before the phone rings.

It's a bose system. I'll see if it's due to my cell (i haven't really paid attention), but the two may be related. If not, then it's a matter of figuring which speaker it is, and checking ground. I'll report once I find something.

If it is due to the phone, is there anyway to shield it?

Well .. it happened again, checked my cell but no calls. So don't think this is it. Any other ideas?

The Bose amp in that speaker is on its way out. When the factory amps start to fail they will pop, crack, squeal, and cut out at times. Before I replaced the Bose amps, my right front would act up at low volume when playing for a few hours.

Cool thanks .. i think there was a post about rebuilding bose amps ... hopefully that would fix it. but you are right it happens on low volume or high volume (the buzzing sound is really loud and obnoxious no matter the volume level).
