exhaust prices

Had mine up on the lift the other day and I noted that the rear box is going to need replacing soon. The entire 'skin' is peeling off.
I view with horror the prices I've seen here of $150 - $170 for a silencer. Some of you guys must have more money than sense!
Think I'll get a decent straight-through, but I am betting I can get one fitted for about $70. Is there any gain at all from changing the stock exhaust or do I need a Y pipe (and there's another thing, the prices charged for those are crazy!)

You'll gain horsepower with a new b-pipe, and maybe 1 hp with a new muffler

Good. This place is a nest of exhaust shops. They even cluster in warrens in some parts of town. In fact, buying parts is nothing like buying parts in the US. Here we do have Autozone, but there are whole parts of the city taken over by warrens of specialists; there's like, the radiator zone, which is subdivided into Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Ford, and so on, and then into new, second hand, repair, fab, and so on. I wonder... probably for $150 I could have my own Y-pipe fabbed up.
Well I've got to get it done soon, I hate driving with a blown silencer (US: muffler) I'll post what I did and what it cost, afterward.

I got my Wapspeed for 160 shipped so I see no problem.
