'00 VI Swap : Rough Idle

I just finished putting on the '00 VI. I'm using the '00 lower w/ fuel rail and injectors, '00 VI, and '00 EGR guide tube. The car starts up and as its idling down to normal idle it just keeps dropping. The idles gets really rough and eventually the car stalls shortly after that. I've been messing around with it all morning now and have exhausted all ideas on this thing. Anybody got any suggestions?

I got a 00 dek sitting in the garage ready for transplant. Hopefully the 99 cali will mate up just right. The egr is the same so... Check your tps adjustment.

Did you remove the TPS at any time? If so I recommend you check its calibration...

Are you using the IACV or the idle adjustment screw on the TB??

Does it stay on if u hold the gas at around 1300-1500rpm ?

Made sure of no vacuum leaks?

TPS was never removed from the throttlebody. I tried the adjustment screw on the IACV. Haven't tried the adjustment screw on the PF TB though. And yes it does stay on if i hold the throttle open around 1300 or so rpms. What would be the best way to check for vacuum leaks?

ok, bump up the idle by using the screw on the TB a little bit until it stablizes out.. Try that.. I've heard of people using the IACV still need to open the TB plate a little bit for it to idle correctly(IACV cant throw enough air in there to keep it on)

Try that and see if it gets stable...

Eh, you owuld usally hear a vacuum leak, I would spray TB Cleaner or something like that around the seals for the intake and wherever else u suspect a vacuum leak.. The engine should surge if theres a leak.

I just noticed you're using the PF TB, didnt see that before hmm... If what I said doesnt help you out i'd check if the TPS is calibrated.

its running. definitely a vacuum leak since i can definitely hear it whistling but the engine really isn't surging. any ideas what the whistling might be if its not a vacuum leak? its still not idling right though. I noticed that when I come to a stop the rpms just drop and keep on dropping and the car stalls out. i'll check the TPS adjustment in a little bit and post back after that. Once I get this POS running right I'll hook the VIAS up to my VAFC-II and throw in my JWT ECU and go for a test drive.

you can hear it whistling at idle? on partial throttle if u hear a high pitched whistle dont worry about that, thats normal.. I get the same.. You should hear the vacuum leak at idle and not under any acceleration.

it whistles a little bit at partial throttle. can't really hear it much over the motor. still trying to get it to idle a little higher than the rough 500-600 its idling at right now.

Mine whistles ultra loud, sounds like a turbo spooling up .. Other than that, I set the idle with the TB screw and it idles fine.

Mines idle around 600, I just haven't felt like adjusting the screw on the TB. The stalling out has to be from a vaccum leak because mines did it a lot and I found a hose spilt open. When I fixed the hose it solved my problem.

It might be like the 00 TB, where the screw isnt on top like the 4th gens its between the intake inlet and the throttle mechanism.

I dunno. I'm just glad I can drive the car now. not like it really matters since I just bought another 4th gen. I'll have to check the PF TB later on for that idle adjustment screw when its not dark out. probably tomorrow. I'm going to try and have this thing track ready for next weekend. these 26" Hoosiers QTPs are just hurting to go down the track.

but yea, which wire on the VIAS plug is power and which one is for the ground?

The red/yellow wire should be the power and the other I think green should be ground.
