whats causing this metallic rattling?

it sounds like 2 thin sheets of metal hitting against each other, or like rocks falling into a pan. i THINK its coming from the rear passenger side near the rear deck or seats, but hitting the rear deck and seats, i cant find it. it doesnt rattle when my bass hits (new sub, not in rear deck) but when i go over harsh bumps it rattles. also, i could hear the same rattle last night when closing my front passenger door, it sounded like it was coming from the trunk area. i doubt its the license plate, but i guess its possible. anyone have any other ideas? its too cold right now for me to take a really good look into finding the problem.

it wasnt the torsion bars, i just checked those, they were solid. i made my friend crawl in the back seat with it folded down to listen to the sound and he said it sounds like its dead center in the trunk, possibly on the lid. maybe the plate is rattling, im really not sure. thats the next step. i just HATE rattles like this.

Could it something in the spare tire compartment then? Tools? Emergency jack?

Or maybe something caught under the car towards the rear?

Good point. Check to see if the tools are secure and in place.

It's a broken exhaust hanger... It's happened to me twice now. The sound you hear is the b-pipe hittin the bottom of your car.

as others mentioned, it's most likely your exhaust bracket has rusted and broke off.

I agree with this, I almost guarantee its the B-pipe, either the hangar or the the b-pipe disconnected from the muffler

It might be because your aftermarket exhaust is too heavy for the stock hangars. Mine had this annoying rattle too till i purchased 4 hose clamps and tightened them up.

i forgot about this thread. its not exhaust, my exhaust was hitting, but that was an entirely different sound. its not caused by the bass, it was caused by going over bumps, but Nilesh the bp-10 does sound AWESOME

it was actually my entire trunk rattling up and down, since i didnt have the little rubber bump stops on it anymore. now that the CF trunk is on, that noise is completely gone, but thanks for all the suggestions.

i just had my exhaust done and i was hopping it would stop the noise but nope so i took the car back after about an hour of checking the hangers and any loose parts we found out the the noise was actually from the front catalyst converter the piece on the inside is loose.

Typically an aftermarket exhaust is lighter than a stock one, correct me if I'm wrong...
