245 is wider than 235 therefor alowing better stability and cornering. the 45 vs 40 is the side wall a 45 has a taller side wall giveing you a bigger tire the 40 gives you a lower profile look. I persally would get 245-40-17 cuz your gonna have good stability and control and not overly soft or hard ride.

245/45/17 is closer speedo match than 235/45/17

Go with the nitto 555's in a 245/45/17. It is within specefications for our rims.

Except, of course, for the thorny issue of rim width. And is it just me, or do we keep going over the same ground time and time again?

hehe....true, but the issue of putting 235 or 245 tires on the stock 7" rims is strange. Some say not to do it, while others say it is no problem. Nitto says their tires will work with that, while other manufacturers say theirs won''t. A lot of gray area when it comes to this topic....

That is true max but I had a screw in my sidewall and so I figure I should just buy all 4 tires for my stocks, and wait a bit on my new rims, I wanna do a few things on the S/C first I am looking at either the Nitto 555's or the Kuhmo 713's
