s-afc help

Just hooked up my s-afc today using Jime's write up. I'm getting everything except for the karmann freq. I cut the wire and soldered the s-afc yellow wire to the maf wire coming out of the ecu and soldered the white to the other end. Is this how to connect this? Haven't gone out and swapped them to see if that would work, but figured I would ask first.

Because Karmann is only used by Mitsubishi. Your car has a Hotwire/Hotfilm MAF and that's all you use.

Driving around with the S-AFC and now I get a CEL. Scanner reads 440(EVAP), and 600(TCM). Is this because I haven't gotten the S-AFC tuned yet or is it due to something else. All settings that I have came from the manual. 6cly, up arrow, 4in 4out HW, etc. I cleared the light out when I had the S-AFC wired in but it kept coming back as soon as the S-AFC would power up. So I reconnected the stock ecu MAF wires. Is this normal? Now I get no codes at all which is how it was prior to the S-AFC install.

Did you buy the SAFC new or used? You're not making any fuel corrections yet correct? Those two codes are strange in relation to the MAF intercepting
Double check your wiring, not sure what else to tell you.

It sounds like something is wired incorrectly. The TCM leeches off some of those wires you tapped, so if it's getting jibberish from the TACH wire or TPS it will probably throw a code.

Bought it used for $170, it's the S-AFC I digital. I double checked the wires, even checked on my maximadriver.com saved notes and matched it up. The thing is that now that the MAF wires are not connected to the S-AFC I'm not getting any codes at all? I hadn't made any fuel corrections yet, just put in the etc. settings. I did drive around for a little bit with the sensor on PRS instead of HW, maybe that messed something up. Or perhaps something was wrong with the unit and I ended up buying a pretty prs, rev, throttle position monitoring tool. I'm pretty baffled.
