Dyno of DE-K with busted VIAS

Not realizing my VIAS was broken, I jumped into a group dyno today and let me just say....while the TQ numbers were exactly what I expected, I found that broken VIAS = downright embarassing WHP numbers. My 5G/5MT with ypipe and catback, + GAB laid down lower power numbers than a autotragic 5G with just an intake.

anyhow, just thought I'd show you guys what a dyno looks like with no VIAS. Of course, I imagine it really just looks like a 4th gen

I have to check my VIAS, I am sure it has to be broken by now.

Before I go anywhere near a dyno I am going to take care of that...

I have an extended warranty and prob have thee whole damn VIAS replaced, I will have to make some calls.

How did you figure that out? Isn't that what I said while we were at the dyno? I thought you said it was opening.....

I'll let him tell the numbers....but suffice to say that his TQ numbers were not what we were all expecting.....

Frankly, I doubt it has much of an effect on autocross. Autocross is all about torque in the low and midrange, and without the VIAS the torque is still there, as you can see. I'll fix it, but it's not particularly high on my list of "things to do"

yeah, you did say that - for some reason, I totally forgot about the "spinning cup" issue with the VIAS, since mine used to actually work. I guess I go over 5,000 rpm so infreqently, I didn't even notice the VIAS missing

we could see the VIAS actuator opening, but obviously the VIAS itself wasn't opening. doh!

To be honest, I don't know what it costs to fix, but if you can get 30 whp, and possibly fix your AF ratio, it would be high on my list of things to do.

I just finished doing the JB Weld VIAS fix this morning...so I'm going to give it the rest of the day to dry and we'll see if that does the trick. Cross your fingers for me.

Not sure why I'm running (rich?) at lower rpms....may have something to do with my timing being advanced

Joel (puppetmaster) has the disk with your run files....

as to another dyno - probably not for me, unless someday I go FI....the numbers don't much matter to me unless I do some kind of MAJOR power mod (which I have no plans for), and I have better things to do with $65

With my VIAS fixed, the numbers should be right around 200whp/200tq....don't really care what the precise numbers are, +/- 5 or 10 hp/tq....
