I removed my sun roof wind deflector. Underneath I found a "ring" where the thing had been sitting. I can't get that stuff off.

I first tried wiping with a wet cotton terry cloth. Then, I tried clay bar. Then, I used a little rubbing compound (3M Perfect-It II , Fine Cut) on a tiny part to see if that would do it. It progressively went away, but it still is present, even on the part I used the rubbing compound.

I am thinking about alcohol next (drinking kind in one hand, rubbing kind in the other ).

Anybody have any suggestions?

I used alcohol and a clay bar. I can just barely see the ring now.

i say you try some degreaser to start...spray that on there, let it sit for about 2-5 minutes (two to five, not twenty five) and use a pressure hose to get it off (most likely need to go to a do it yourself car wash for this...then try using the alcohol followed by a clay bar and wax

if that doesn't work, go to a junk yard and pickup a whole new body (of the car, that is)

I had a hard time getting the ring off at first even after heavy scrubbing. However, afterwards I applied some Zymol Cleaner Wax and it came off. Maybe it's because it's not heavily set in but I'm just glad that the rings are no longer there. Good luck.

I don't know if you have a connection with a buffer but I just buffed my Ring/Scratch out no problem

Justin, I do have a buffer. That is the next move after trying rubbing alcohol, 3M adhesive remover, and some 3M cleaner wax. I'm busting out the heavy artillery.

buffer

you guys have any experience with the buffer from Meguiars?
they say its impossible to burn the paint or leave swirl
marks........is it that impossible with a power buffer.
And I'll be checking out the marks left on my max this weekend from the crappy wind deflector......

Ring around the Sunroof

Scratches, that what it is, and that's why buffing it with the assortments of polishes could take it off. Come to think of it, I took it off a week after I bought the car and never put it back on... now why did I pay for it??? Now that's a good question. Must have not been thinking...

Well, good luck on taking it out.
