alright, my car is making this noise at about 3500-4000rpm and it reminds me of a supercharger whine. it doesn't make the noise in nuetral only in gear so i can not replicate the problem while under the car. it hasn't affected performance yet, but i would like to figure out what it is and possibly fix it before it does affect performance. i was thinking it was an exhaust leak but wouldn't that make the noise in neutral also.

i also just changed the tranny fluid to redline mt-90 thinking that might clear it up and changed the oil to GC and the noise is still present, i did notice the flex portion of the y-pipe has been torn so it could be an exhaust leak, but it doesn't make the noise in neutral.

It may not make the noise in neutral cuz of no load on engine. Maybe if u put load on motor it then creates backpressure to the point of making noise. Also, is it a whine or a whistle. Whine could mean power steering, overly tight belts and other problems. WHistle could mean exhaust leak or vacuum leak.
