I just got the GXE Vent assembly from Rocketship and I went to put it in. First thing I noticed was the assembly wasn't in perfect shape. It had a few nicks and scuffs on it... no biggy I figure, it's gotta look better than the one that's in there now.

Well... the long of the short is, the stereo won't mount flush in it, and doesn't look good in the crutchfield kit. I want it to look clean, I've spent the last few months half-arsed and it's really gotten on my nerves.

On top of the visual problems, I also had engine noise from the amp (most likely due to my wiring job. Not to mention the amp was visable under my seat and didn't really look good.

So now my dash looks good again and I won't have the stupid amp under my seat once I get a chance to yank it out.

I now have the following for sale:

Crutchfield dash kit.
Nissan wiring harness (includes antenna adapter).
Aiwa CDC-MP3 In dash CD & MP3 player
Rockford Fosgate Punch 150a Amp
GXE Ventillator Assembly (condition as noted above, I will take pics if you like).

uck, you had the Aiwa CDC-MP3. that hissing sound wasnt your engine, it was the headunits crappy sound reduction.

Actually it wasn't a hissing I had a problem with. It was a whistle that varied with the engine RPM. The deck has decent sound as far as I'm concerned... but I'm not one who will sink several thousand into a stereo system for a car.

that whining is alternator whine...adam was telling me about it yesterday when i noticed it in his car...mine doesn't do what his does and my alternator has to work a lot more than his (due to 1000 watts + tv + vcr + camcorder + playstation 2)

what model fosgate amp is it? i'm thinking of wiring an amp upto my stock speakers...is it the 150a4 or a2?

Check out the top post. Sick of my dash looking tacky and I didn't want to have to mess with all the steps it'd take to flush mount the stereo with the GXE dash trim and lastly I was sick of the engine noise from my amp.

Yeah, I saw that, but I was a little confused. I thought you just tried another system and ditched both.

I just tried the GXE dash and then I realized that I would have to do all sortsa crap to flush mount and bla bla bla and I just figured, not worth the trouble.

Re: yup

sorry bout dat Jon. I never saw it after Circuit City took it out. They boxed it up and I had it like that ever since I took it out. I prollaly shuda looked at it before I sent it bruh! If anything it maybe a lil glue on there where they half a$$ed installed my cva. A lil acetone will remove that! Did it not sit flush with the a/c controlls? I have a friend with a gxe that will give me the money to get it back, that is if he hadn't already called courtesy!

The kit sat flush.. the radio wasn't flush with the kit. I would've had to drill new holes in the brackets. I still would've had engine whine and I would've had to order the dash cup too.

Circuit city f'ed it up pretty good for being "professional" installers. There are some minor scratches on the top of it and they left a decent sized chunk of hard goo (glue I guess) on it too.

Oh well. I'm thinking about going for a 6spd 2k2 early next year. So I dun't wanna put that much work into the bugger.
