My friend had a volvo v7o and he says if I race him I will eat dust all the time. Is this true or false? Do I have a chance with a v70? I have a 5spd, the v70 is auto. Tell me what you think thanx.

you can probably take him....those things have pretty bad turbo lag with the autos (I drove a C70 yesterday...same engine) and even when the turbo kicked in, it didn't seem that quick.

Recently I started learning things about Volvos (actually got one) and let me tell ya that if that guy has a modded turbo V70 then you don't even have a chance.
Good luck.

V70 GLT's aren't slow at all. The turbo lag is not what it used to be. Race him and let me know. The 97 V70 GLT were the most explosive V70 GLT I had ever driven. Reason being you could change the mode of the transmission from Econo to Sport mode. Then, Volvo went to just having Winter mode and I hated it. The car was a bit slower.

Bottom line is you should win if you are good at driving the stick but I have an auto and I know I would still win from driving both cars in stock mode.

If he has the T5 engine, watch out. It has 247 horsepower stock. I now the 5 speed wagon runs 0-60 in the low 6's.

I think I remember seeing in Motor Trend the C70's and V70's running ~14.6. I figure the auto would be slower and it depends on your mods as well. I beat a C70 with only a CAI and Y-Pipe by about a car length at ~90mph, twice in a row. I got him off the line (even with mad wheel spin the first race) and pulled ever so slowly after that. He had a 5spd. Chances are you'll take him...
