For those who did a custom B-pipe withOUT a resonator. How does it sound? Raspy? Bees-in-a-can Honduh sound? Or what?

Do you have the stock muffler? If not, what kind of muffler?

Basically, I'm debating whether or not to have the muffler shop install a resonator with a Greddy muffler or go without. I figure that if I have them install it withOUT and I don't like it, then they can simply cut out a piece of the pipe and make two welds for the resonator.

I have a 97 Max. I used to run a custom 2.5" b-pipe with no resonator & GReddy muffler. It was DEEP & VERY LOUD. I was able to set off alarms at my leisure. It didn't sound like bees-in-a-can-Honda-cars at all. I don't think our V6 is capable of that nasty sound like the Honda I4's.

Anyway, I recommend that you definitely use a resonator. After a few months, I couldn't stand the droning anymore. You cannot hear your stereo.

Resonator out..

You'll get a slight droning note with only the resonator removed with stock muffler. The droning note goes away after 3k rpm.

all of the noise you are talking about is from the muffler...taking out the resonator has a very slight noise increase

alex, friday we (me and adam) took off adams entire exhaust...gutted the cat, and replaced his pipe w/ my old pipe that had the resonator removed...he is getting a y pipe this week and he doesn't think he will be able to take the extra noise...if you come w/ us to phils house, we can just switch adams pipe w/ yours (i still have adams pipe at my house...the one w/ the resonator in case you want the extra pipe if you put my old one on)...just come with us over to phils house and we will do a bunch of installs...i need an oil change, too...maybe i'll do that before we go to phils

I didnt notice a noise differance either, only when I removed my cat and put the y-pipe on did I notice the big change. ( im running a stillen y-pipe, stright pipe all the way back into a APEXi N-1 muffler ) by the way if anyone is going to do a y-pipe dont do stillen do cattman its much better.
