2 questions:

1. where can I find the actual breakdown for the different titles?
2. what gives you more rush driving your Max or the EMT?

EMT is the abbreviation for Emergency Medical Transportation.

My sister is an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), and it appears that I was wrong, Mr. Nismo is correct. EMT also(and in this case especially) stands for Emergency Medical Transport. Sorry if I confused you.

Check here for the breakdown (this is approximate BTW).
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....threadid=41940

1800+ =Needs non-Maxima Friends
1700-1799 =Maxima Brainwashed
1500-1699 =Lives in a Maxima
1300-1499 =Maxima Obsessed
1000-1299 =Maxaholic
800-999 =Maxima Obsessed
300-799 =Maximaniac
100-299 =Maxima Fanatic
50-99 =Maxima Enthusiast
10-49 =Newbie
0-9 =Lurker

And EMT stands for Emergency M edical Technician. I was an EMT, but am now a paramedic. There are different levels of EMT, with EMT effectively being the bottom and paramedic being the top. EMTs can use the automatic defibrillators and use about 3 drugs. As a paramedic, I can use a defibrillator, administer many different drugs, intubate(put the breathing tube in someones windpipe), start IVs, use ventilators and some other cool stuff. As I put it once who asked me how being a poaramedic was, its boredom(the downtime) interrupted by moments of sheer terror. Having someones life directly in your hands is quite a rush, but in situations like this you come to appeciate just how precious life is. I actually had a guy die, I shocked him and then he sat bolt upright and started talking to me. By the time we got to the hospital he kept talking about how I had saved his family and he thanked me profusely. Its moments like that that make it all worth it. As for driving the Maxima vs. being a paramedic, they are two completely seperate things, but I love both immensely. I also love my ambulance almost as much as I like my car. Ford's PowerStroke is just as sweet sounding as the VQ.

Thanks, yours is truly an honorable profession!
As far as my question is concerned, I actually thought that you were driving the EMT and was wondering whether you had more of a rush feeling driving your Max or coming down the road driving an EMT truck (?) with the sirens on. Since you're a paramedic though, I take it that you don't really drive, but take care of people inside.

Oh, I drive all the time too. In NYC, an Advanced Life Support Ambulance (paramedics are advanced)has to have 2 paramedics in it, one drives, one 'techs'. I can do both. It is quite a rush driving in the city, but there are too many emergency vehicles and people tend to cut off ambulances with no problems. I usually work the overnights, so most of the idiots that drive are home sleeping. Also work in Westchester County, but only one person has to be a paramedic there, the driver HAS to be an EMT. There are no such things as ambulance drivers anymore.

Since there seems to be (almost) no such thing as courteous NYC drivers, the only way to get somewhere is to be very aggressive and unyielding, which is what a lot of city drivers are. Too bad that they also lose respect for the emergency vehicles (not the cops, though, since the cops can respond in the ways others can't). I'd hate to think that one a$$hole's driving habits can cause someone a life...
