I gave up. I figure he will just drop whatever I ordered in the mail when it is finished which should have been done by now.

At this point I will just wait. Last time I spoke to him he had the spacers and just had to do the modification. Therefore the spacers are there, just need to be modified. Not sure why it is taking so long. Additionally, I have aftermarket vq35 cams I will be using so using stock vq30 cams is definitely out of the question.

I'm gonna have to vouch for Tilley here guys. If your having trouble I think thats one instance. Please don't generalize. Every time I've spoken with him he's been very helpful.

Anyway, a swap done with all the "correct parts" will be a hair above $2K. I did mine with all the right parts and it ran $2100. And by correct I mean doing it right the first time with the hardware required if you want to continue modding. By this I mean VLSD trans, aftermarket clutch, SS clutch line, etc... If you do it on the cheap with a regular 5Spd and an OEM Exedy clutch I think it could be done for $1500.

What do you mean by this statement? What do you think we are implying about Rob? All we are saying is that he is a hard person to get in contact with and nothing further.

Try under 1100, buddy

I shall have the .org's cheapest 5spd and vq35 swap.

vq35 with 55k on it, 650 shipped. Spec stage 2 clutch, 220 shipped, various knick knacks, 100 bucks. tilley's spacers, 100 bucks. There you go, complete vq35 swap. So far I have the spacers, and 2 vq35's. I'm building a vq35 auto for 2500, (it was my parts car) for ThisMaxIsTight, in addition to the vq35 5spd i'm doing for myself.

-Freddy

edit: I was talking about the vq35 swap, the 5spd swap is much cheaper.

and by the way, you can do a 5spd swap for 900 bucks (includes everything) if you look around long enough, I did.

well then, since you obviously don't really care about getting the price, or the swap. I mean if you were, you'd easily just pickup the phone and use that cheeto covered index finger of yours to dial his number. With a response like "I'm too lazy to call" do you actually expect anyone to give a **** and help you?

Nah i realy didnt, figured hed chime in but since he didnt (and apperantly wont) no biggie, if he's busy enough that people have trouble getting in contact with him, im gonna guess his rates are a little higher than i want to pay

Thanks guys

You shouldn't make assumptions. Just because someone is hard to get in contact with, doesn't make their rates high. When you are a sole proprietor and run a shop, do mechanic work, and paint cars all by yourself it basically means you can't stop every five minutes to pick up a phone. I have spoken to Rob twice this week (by phone and AIM).

By doing it right I meant VLSD. That alone will run you over $900 unless you get super lucky from a yard that doesn't know how coveted they are.
