8800 is way too much for a car with problems like that.

Just do what I did, and get your mom to buy it, don't waste your money on it, use your money to mod it.

Thats not an option, im paying for this myself,

the only thing that i like about it is that it is the interior really turns me on(super good looking and clean)....Stock muffler sounds sick.....and the engine has 54,000 miles on it.... Otherwise i would walk away from it....

find a better ride man for alot cheaper and you can prob find one with the same mileage if your looking at 99's and will be alot better than that mix matched thing.

Ive been looking for maximas for over 30 days, still have not found a good one. I did see a 99 in *perfect condition* literally, it had 84,000 miles and was selling for 10,990$ i could not get the dealer to budge on the price at all, it eventually got sold. I looked at a 97 gxe and that got sold... not a big fan og gxe either... Also looked a GLE with 42,000 miles on it and it had 2000$ engine leaks due to it not being used enough...

finding cars is a pain in the ***!!!

Problems..

Many....

First off I don't think it's a Limited unless the badging has been changed. Those leather seats don't look perforated, which I think they should be if it's a true SEL. Also, please tell me that's not carpeting on the front dash board!

Secondly I don't think 8800 is too bad if it's in good shape. But looking at your list of problems something doesn't smell right. Unless they offered you at least a 6 month warranty covering everything (In writing) or they fixed the problems you describe first, then I'd keep looking.

Has anyone ever thought of just walking up to someone who HAS a 4th gen and asking them if they'd like to sell their car?? Next time, when I'm in the market for a 5th gen that's a tactic I'm going to use. You just never know and you might get lucky and find a gem. Something to think about.

It has the "SE limited" badged on the side of the car, also "SE" is perforated into the seats, i have already test driven it twice. Im 100% sure its true a SEL.

And yes it is carpet on the dash, it will be the first thing i will rip off if i do buy this car. I checked under the carpet and it looks picture perfect, its not covering up anything. I also did check if all the VIN#'s on the car matched up and they did

I have tried walking up to some 4th gen owners but most the time i spot them on the road moving, not in a parking lot. Used car warranties are a joke, the only exsist for the dealer to generate more income.

struts=300$
tires=400$
hood=400$
bad CV boot is good indicator of new joints needed=100$
A/c=20$
1100$ you can bargain off of at least, and tell them I got my 98 i30(original owner, non-smoking, no salvage, no bodywork) with none of those problems for 6500$
also if the bodywork was on the front, the new condenser and radiator can be indicators of an accident not reported.

Getting them off of this board or eBay, a hood and a single strut won't cost but $100, $150 + shipping. If you're going to get a hood for $400, might as well get a CF hood.

Tires, if you want them brand new they can run anywhere from $200-400 or so, but if you get some used ones from a junkyard (which usually aren't bad at all) you can get them for as little as $20/tire.

The entire axle only costs about $60 at most auto parts places with a lifetime warranty with your core, so that's not too expensive there.

And yes, AC will run you about $20 if you buy one of those recharging kits, but I wouldn't really trust those too well. Lbs is the correct way to judge by, not psi. A shop will probably charge you about $100 to evac and recharge the entire system.

Assuming midrange deals on this stuff, $150+$200+$60+$100, you'd only be spending about $510 on the car besides what you value your time at. Not a good car with all of those problems for $8800, though...

Just to clarify, another hood is not needed, the replacement 95 hood is the exact color and you could not even tell its a diffrent hood untill you look at the sticker. New Joints are not needed, we are sure it just needs new boots. The boots are not actually torn with a hole in it, but they will need replacing before a hole develops and the joint becomes junk.

Also this car was in a unreported accident, no airbags were deployed etc... The cars suspention is being looked at right now at an alignment shop. If an alignment is needed the dealer agreed to pay for it.

Another note; this car is not in wrecked condition, to the naked eye it looks just like a regular 99 SEL. Also a non smoking car. This car also had one owner.

Also note that i do have a recenly salvaged 98 GXE with almost brand new yokohama tires, i might be able to get it for free or with a small fee.

I think i might get it anybody change there minds after the "clarification"?

as of struts, you can get kyb gr2 which are 225 shipped for a set of 4. Im pretty sure if one strut is bad, that the others probably are not in a condition so new you can just change one... besides, struts are pretty different brand to brand, that having different damping on each wheel is not something you want.

If it was in an unreported accident who knows what happened and why wasnt it unreported? The fact that there was an undocumented accident wouldnt sit right with me, but your taking the proper steps to make sure the car is in proper working condition.

Fortunately you have a parts car to grabs extra parts you'll need but the point still stands thats way too much for a car with said problem. Blue book valvue for it is around that price tag, but if the car was in Mint condition.

I wouldnt pay over $6.2k for it. But its your money and your decision.

I just talked to the dealer the 3rd time, he actually budged the price down, not much bet hey better than nothin'. Im going to purchase this car, fixing it up is going to cost me 400$.

I have already gotten it checked out by a trusted mechanic a couple of days ago. There are only minor fixes to be made on this car and it is in safe driving condition . And for the undoctumented accident we actually called the orginal owner who had their name in the owners manual! Evrey things seems to be going smoothly and hopefully i can show you guys my new 4th gen soon

we'll then your set. Enjoy the new car and hopefully repairs go smoothly.

The jack up struts is a good excuse for performance struts and some lowering spring should you choose to go that route.

Cool.

As far as the warranty goes I wasn't speaking to purchasing one but to having the dealer throw it in the deal to help sell the car with no cash out of your pocket.

Good luck with your new Max.

Mine had some minor problems with it also but they ended up fixing them for free and they lowered the price. They wanted 11,900 for my 1998 GLE with 93,000 miles on it with POS worn Winston Tires, leaking oil pressure guage, low rear brake pads, and cracked AC and Alternator belts. You have to be a salesman back to the salesman. I basically told them if they didn't fix these problems I wouldn't buy it and I would post the car online warning people about it. After that the salesman ran to the owner who agreed to fix everything to me and lower the price to 7995. Anyways congrats on the car.
