A few minutes ago, my SES light came on. I went into diagnostic mode and the SES light flashes 7 times then stays lit. nothing else happens.

When I turn ignition off, then restart the car the SES light is still lit.

Any ideas? I can't find any reference to this SES light flashes 7 times then steady while searching the other threads.

Have you checked the code with an obd2 scanner?

 

I believe that is the symptom for bad ignition coils. Code should be P1320 IIRC.

 

ye, you might be right but I don`t think that ignition coils will give you any type of code?

 

Yeah, usually when the CEL flashes while driving it is the coil packs/misfire.

 

Coils have there own code
Each cyl does or you might get the general misfire code.

 

Th SES only flashes during diagnostic mode, not while running. It flashes 7 times, then stays on. Turn car off, restart car and SES light stays on constantly.

Hmm... I thought the 5.5 gen's did not have coil issues, only the 5th gens did. Would a 65k mile 3.5 need new coils already?

 

No, might have to though if I can't get a valid code to blink in diagnostics mode.
