I stumbled across this and wonder if any of the orgers have any sort of experiance with it. It looks lagit and even clears codes, for those who are in fear of not passing inspection. let me get any opinion on it.

I think its a waste of money. You have all that stuff right in front of you execpt for volts and miles per gallon which are both useless....

But also its able to read codes and clear them which i need. Its basicly a cheap OBD-2 Code reader.

 

just get yourself a car manual from autozone for around $25-$30..... and a flat head screwdriver. and you can read the codes!

PLUS!! you will save around $130.00!!!

 

Sounds good man ive already got the Haynes Manual, But I dont think their is anyway i can clear codes. Thats the number one reason why i want this tool. If i take it to a garage it cost anywhere between 50 and 80 bucks to get the codes checked and cleared.

 

cant you rent a reader from autozone.. when your done with it they return your payement...?

 

Yeah there is a way to clear the codes. Just like you can read codes by turning the screw, you can just as easily erase them.

Humm never heard of renting a OBD-2 reader ill check into that thanks.

Most Advance Auto Parts Stores will read and clear codes for you for FREE. But here's the real question: Why are you trying to clear codes so frequently, sounds like there's a problem that needs to be fixed first. That's the whole idea behind the Idiot light

 

all you need to do (if i remember right) is turn the igniton to the on position... turn the screwdriver clockwise until it stops.... then hold it for about ten seconds... turn it back (counter clockwise) just a little... turn the igniton key off... and then start the car...the code should be removed....

 

I dont know i thought it might be a nice addition to have just a techy geek thing I guess. Also it would be nice to diagnose the problem with the tool, and do some repairs my self.

 

IMO, it's a waste of money..but if you feel you want it, get it.

I'm all about trying to DIY, but just know once you start down the slippery path of tool purchase it can get addicting and rather EXPENSIVE(if you buy quality). Before you know it you'll be sleeping in a hammock in the garage, dreaming of pistons and tail pipes.
