My impressions....ACT street clutch

k....so I've had my new ACT clutch in for about 450miles...the break in period is 200-300 miles...so naturally after 300 miles, I couldn't wait to floor it. I gunned it in first gear this morning, and **** does that thing grip, not only did the tires chirp into second....they PEELED...and I had WHEEL-HOP into second gear...then my car did something that it's never done before...it chirped into third gear too!!!! All I can say is that I'm VERY impressed with this clutch. There is a little chatter in first gear when engaging from a dead stop...but that should go away after 1K miles....overall I'm very happy with it.

The heavy duty pressure plate and modified street disc can hold 362 lb-ft of torque and is rated at 39% increase over stock.

I ended up paying nothing for my clutch becuase ACT shipped the wrong disc TWICE.....but all aside it would have cost a little over 300. Installation should be around 500 bucks. Get one from Got Rice.

Don't know anything about the flywheel. The guy at ACT did say that since the maxima engine already revs fairly quickly...the HD clutch and lightened flywheel combo would probably just make for a harder and more abrubt clutch engagement.

Brian, what could your car do as far as chirping the tires during gear changes before your new clutch??????

Sounds great. Yet when adding a better clutch such as the act do you also get a reduced 0-60 time?

Brians clutch is a lot harder to push in than my stock clutch. Bri I gotta get a ride now that we can rev above 3500 rpms.

I ordered the street disk 5 weeks ago, and after calling ACT today, I have found out that the street disk is on back order for the 4th gens.. seems like they could have told me a bit sooner as my clutch is starting to slip and I have a SC on the way

The ACT clutch has an organic disc.

I've been looking at the Clutchmasters Stage 3 setup, which is a carbon-kevlar setup. It supposed to hold real nice, and last just as long as their other setups.

NM1-HDMM
Yes, it's organic since it uses a stock disc that has been modified (the marcel area on the disc is reduced, which enables quicker action).

geomax: ACT does not make a lightened FW for the 89-99 Maxima
