Thoughts on new leather interior?

The covers from leatherseats.com are designed to be a replacement for the cloth but since these weren't even for the right car I just pulled em on over the cloth to see how it would look. I'm not entirely sure how happy I am with the color. (grayish beige on a black interior.)

I didn't want to take the plunge just yet and not be happy with the outcome and ruin my seats.

I think after I make the door inserts and paint my dash to match, it will look alot better.

anywho since, Here are some pictures of the halfway point. My car is also a mess at the moment. Let me know what you guys think. Some modification was made and some more is needed. Keep in mind that these were FREE.

The bottom area by the recliner handle will be tucked in when it's done.

the rear cushion isn't secured so thats why it looks a little cockeyed.

flip the seats upside down. 4 bolts hold the bottom cushion and they are in the corners. then for the upper cushion, remove the back part of the seat. it is held in palce with 4 plastic clips. thn pull the side and there will be 2 bolts on each side that hold the upper cushion.

you guys are gonna hate me for this. I actually found a posting on craigslist for free leather from leatherseats.com. The only catch was that it was for an oldsmobile Alero. I took a look on ebay and saw that the universale "covers" were the same design for the alero seats and the max. So I took a stab at it and picked em up.

So far, the front seats look great. A Little modification was necesary and the headrests need to be redone. The rear bottom seat fit after a lot of tugging. The backseat rear peice is a major problem though. The package came with some extra leather and I'm pretty sure I'll get the rear piece secured next week.

I'll make sure to update with some pics when I can.

oops sry for confusion was asking original poster if he replaced the whole cushion or jsut the leather. but thanks for reply it does clear things up. unfortunately my car is beige so i'd have to find the leather and do the stitching...

it looks funky. i used to work at a place where they did upolstry too and a way that they made the covers fit better was using this machine that pumps steam into the cousions so they expand and they actauly stay expanded it makes it look 100 times better. mabye u can rent the machine.

got em for free.

I just installed the driver seat and headrests a few minutes ago. Still have alot to do with the rear peice though. And still have to fabricate door inserts.

well, the reason mine are wrinkly are because they aren't designed for the max. LEatherseats.com or katskins will make seats speciifcally for the make and model of each car and they should fit perfectly. they send you leather upholstery that is put on the seat after the cloth is removed.
