do i need to recharge my system under normal driving a/c blows ice cold when i drive harder it gets so warm its like i shut the button off.

 

The AC by design shuts off under hard acceleration or high load.

 

It doesn't shut it off it just shuts off the air compressor

The ECU disengages the clutch on the front of the compressor at WOT.

 

Ok since we're on this topic I have a question. Why is it that on some cars the A/C doesn't blow cold air while in slow moving traffic versus much colder air at highway speed?

 

All air coming out of the HVAC vents is mixed with the outside air. The moving outside air (when driving) will usually be colder than the air immediately inside the engine bay(when sitting).

 

The air is colder when driving because the condenser can give off infinitely more heat when 50 mph wind is hitting it than when the two fans are sucking the air through. The more heat is released up front, the more heat the freon can absorb hence colder air. If you'd disconnect the fans, the air would not get cold at all, even on recirc, and even though the compressor is running.

Just running the compressor does not make it cold, it just facilitates the heat transfer, after transfer it must be removed. The moving car does it better.
