A little off topic, but why are you looking to get 17*7s? Can you not just stick with what you have now, or are they actually like 6.5s??

I had some 7mm (i think) spacers on the rear with stock wheel and studs. I was not confident using them with my new wheels. There was not that many threads left. I would not go any larger than 5mm spacers with stock studs. They are perfectly safe when used with longer studs, and best off being hubcentric. IMO the bolt on ones with built in studs are a better choice if your wheels have clearance on the back side of the hub.

yeah im planning on buyin the h&r spacers which are basically spacers with studs on them. so its like a hub extension. my wheels are like 42 offset too if i remember correctly and i need liek 20 mm spacers which i would have milled down a couple millimeters if i had room to after i get a BBK.
but 4drspeed might chime in, he has the h&r's i think.
i hate how tucked the rears wheels are

i have 20mm spacer with longer studs...but IMO u can 10mm without replacing them....others will say 5mm....if u feel u have enough full turns of ur lugs then do whatever...it reallly all depends on ur wheels and how much the studs stick thru

i was running spacers with my old rotas.. I definately didn't feel comfortable using stock studs with 5mm spacers. there was less than 1/4" of stud left after the wheel was installed to thread the nut on. I just replaced my studs with nismo ones, and took care of that problem.

Remember, 9 or more lugnut turns on a 12x1.25 lug for safety.

15mm or 20mm spacers for the rear only are perfect for 4th and 5th gen Maximas to make the rear track about equal to the front track. 20mm would make the rear a little wider than the front which is a good look IMO. I have 15mm and I would recommend H&R Trak+ spacers only, they are precision engineered and come with proper length studs. You could also get custom spacers made by a reputable shop but be sure to get 15 or 20mm longer studs for safety and so your lug nuts sit the same in the front and the rear.

i know the rear wheels are wayyy to burried. i wish i could do it to just the rear and only a little in the front but i need that damn brake clearance for my bbk. so they are gonna be back to the same as stock once i add 20 mm to all four

You could consider different rims, since rims vary a lot (even within the same size) in terms of brake clearance. What rims are you running that you have to add 20mm spacers? 16 inch rims? LOL

17" centerlines. They are forged, I really like them and its just not practical to try to find a wheel I like that still weighs as light as these and is within my spending budget.

The offset is like 42. I might be able to mill the 20mm down but I most likely need more than 15 mm

i had 5mm's when i had my old wheels, and i did not change the studs. i had a lug nut that had a extra lip on the end that gave alittle more thread, and i felt comfortable in running them

What nobody mentioned is this:
Spacers increase the wear on your wheel bearings. The turning moment increases dramatically as you increase the distance from the bearing.

The increased wear is proportional to the amount of spacing. If your bearings are good you won't notice anything but the life of the bearings will be reduced.

I have been lookin for these lately, and I see that there is a vendor in the group deals section selling Eibach wheel spacers. What is the difference between the Eibachs and the H&Rs?

I have H&R 20MM spacers. You can't ask for a higher quality worth of wheel spacers. They come with longer studs and cool "Go Wide" stickers

Install is real easy just rather time consuming.

I have 17x7 wheels with 42MM offset. The spacers push the wheels flush to the fender and give it that aggressive look. Say bye-bye to the grandpa tucked look. I feel totally safe on these spacers. I actually torqued down the wheels to 92 for the first week and then backed it off to 84.

Here are some pictures of the spacers and stance. While the stance looks great, the exterior of the car does not 56K play dead

4drspeed: your track looks like a reverse stagger. Is it? Or just camera angle?

Also, SCCA or some other sanction require 1/4" stud thread showing beyond a lug nut?

i have no issues with bearings and with regular auto-x and trackdays never had an issue.....also I had mine milled down to 16.5mm from 20 so i actually have even more length on my studs...i needed them because my wheels didnt clear my brakes and 100 is cheaper than 500 for wheels

It's not a reverse stagger. I have 20MM all the way around, the rear just sits slightly tucked in more than the front.

20mm all the way around = reverse stagger on a 4th gen or 5th gen due to the rear track being narrower to begin with. To get rid of it you have to have thicker spacers on the rear, or no spacers in front. 4Dr, your rims must have a very high offset.

If you get wheel spacers I hope you ruin your suspension.

Huh, mine are 40mm, 8 inch width, and they fill the wheel wells very well.

i had 17" altima se 2004 wheels.. with 25mm spacer in the rear sit so flush.. but when i get new tires .. all the nipples (the little stubs) that come on NEW tires.. got cut off really quick if i dove on the highway.... it sat really close to the wheel well..

but it looked great specially with the OEM mudguards..

now i have q45 wheels 2001 5 spoke polished.. and i cant put the spacer on it cause it sits out toomuch..

spacers

Saw some spacers at PepBoys for approx $8.00, may be an option without spending the dough.
