The Tranny Trick Drop Resistor

Hey guys,

I posted a thread over on the 3rd gen section (As I have a 93VE) about "The Tranny Trick" found on Bryan's Maxima Page

It says, "The "Tranny Trick" is a modification that involves the simple pulling of a wire harness that resides near the left strut. When you pull the connector, it takes out the line resistance that makes the shifts soft in an automatic transmission Maxima. I have heard both good things and bad things with this "trick" and use it very seldom."

I'm guessing from the text that it is a drop resistor that needs to be bypassed, but I was referred to the 4th gen forum as you guys supposedly do it much more than 3rd genners. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has heard, or done this, if it was bypassed anyway under Wide Open Throttle, and where the harness was, and what I would have to do to bypass it. Any replies are appreciated. Thanks!

You can install a radio shack switch so that the DR will only be bypassed under WOT. If you disconnect the DR, under normal driving conditions, your shifts will be very harsh. More information on the mod, and instructions are in this thread:

You could rig up a button, like the old third gens!! sport mode, and normal mode. I'm still convinced that that button never did anything. (do 4th gen autos have that button?)

To answer the question seriously, no.
