Hello everyone. I have a problem. I just put a new set of tires on my car and I had it aligned. On this specific year Maxima there is not toe in or out adjustment. On the rear end of the car the toe is out of alignment. When I drive down the highway the car drifts to the passengerside while the steering wheel is straight.

You can already see the wear on the tires after 100 miles. The funny thing is, is that the alignment shop didn't tell me the toe was out. If I was just some normal old lady I would just be tearing the crap out of my new tires.

Is there anyway this can be fixed? I was told that something was bent from Nissan when I called.

Could it be something in the suspension or frame?

There has to be something off somewhere, because the rear wheels cannot be aligned.....

 

Yep. I just found that out. Do you think it could be a wheel bearing or something? I rides smooth as butter but it's just that annoying rear end problem. Could it be as strut? I'm supposed to take it Nissan tomorrow and I'm afraid there gonna bend me over and give it to me.

something is bent, plain and simple. The good thing i guess about going to the dealership is that when they do a quick alignment set up and see whats wrong they can give u a list of things that need ot be done. you can do it there or...........take the list to ur trusted tech and get it fixed

 

if the rear alin is out.. then you have something bent.. i would check to see if the rear axel is shifted.. compair the wheel clearence in front of the rear tires to the body.. or you have have to have the body pulled..

 

Body pulled. Man I hope it's not that serious. I'll take to nissan and see what they say. Hopefully it's something I can fix myself.

If the car is lowered then the toe can get out screwed up, because mine is... But I ain't wearing tires like that. Pull the car fax.

No it's not lowered. I does have aftermarket rims though.

I just checked the carfax on the car. There are no accidents and it had been service regularly.


I hope it's a bad bushing or something.

I took it nissan today for them to look at it. They actually got it done today but I will have to pick it tomorrow since i'm at work.

When I took it in I specifically told the guy not to give me an alignment. I told them the back was off and I needed to know why. The funny thing is that I spoke with a couple of nissan reps/tech or whatever and they all said that the car has no rear end adjustments. Then a couple of ours later the service guy calls me and says they can fix the alignment and they needed to know if I wanted it done. I rattled on and on to him and ask why they were telling me it couldn't be aligned earlier and now it can. He tells me it's because of my tires I just had put on. I just pulled those perfectly good tires off my perfectly aligned car and now there bad.

Don't they measure the alignment from the rims and not the tires? If so then how would a bad tire affect a measured alignment?

Either way he says that he has the before and after sheet showing they are inspect. Well I just have to see. I'll take it for a nice test drive and see what happens. If it turns out that my problem is fixed I'm going back to the other place and getting my money back.
