The big 250..

As in 250,000 miles. Rolled thru Wednesday night! I love this car.
It's also a little significant for me based on several threads on the Org. Of course mileage and experiences may vary but here are a couple observations from my standpoint:
1. While premium is recommend, regular is NOT going to hurt the car. 90% of the miles on my car have been driven on regular gas (we have 87, 89 and 93 in NC). The key IMO, is HOW you drive on the type of fuel you use.
2. Still not burning any oil
3. The seats still suck.
4. I still get a MINIMUM of 400 miles on a tank in mixed city and highway driving. I usually shift at around 2500 to 3000 rpms. It sees a track HPDE maybe once a twice a year.
5. Suspension work will be done this year, but the car still rides good. The shocks are most definitely worn, but they are not blown (no leaks). Still a comfortable ride. I'm really starting to doubt if I'll lower it.
6. It's not as difficult a car to work on as some people make out.
7. Long distance miles are good for a car.
8. The BIGGEST (knock on wood) mechanical issue has been a transmission replacement at a little over 100,000 miles.
Definitley one of the best purchases I've made. (Bought used with 65,000 miles on it).

wow. my i30 is at 160k and i was worried i would have to sell it soon.

did you have to replace the entire tranny? how much did it cost? mine is having tranny problems as well. it doesn't shift from 1st to 2nd smoothly and it shifts around 4-5k. it also seems that 4th gear is completely gone. on the freeway my rpm is at 4k which is giving me horrible gas mileage. 250 miles to the tank no hwy driving!

I have a manual tranny. It busted first gear or a syncro or something a block form my house, but I was able to make it into the garage!! A junkyard tranny installed with a new clutch set me back around $2100.00.
