I was wondering... Could you give me your opinion? 3rd Gen Max

I have a 3rd Gen Max, with the original 205/65/R15 shoes (I am not planning on changing them). Over the years the handling has become awfull. It shakes in every curve, always fish tailing. It is too soft, I know it is the part of being comfortable, but it moves a lot in curves and tends to go sideways.
I want to know what can I do, what the problem is. I want to improve the handling, but not make it as stiff as a rock because I use it every day. Besides, I don't want to lower it (at least I don't want to lower it a lot), because sometimes it bottoms out. I think not only because it is originally low, but due to the extreme softness and wear.
I am not looking for a nicer look, but a better perfomance and not losing much comfortability.
Thanks!

This is the actual height (my firm is retouched)

You're only bottoming out because your suspension is old and tired. If you replace your springs and struts with good ones, you won't bottom out even if your car is a little lower. You also might find that the ride will be more comfortable, since a well-made suspension with stiffer springs will ride better than a dead suspension with softer springs.

Get the best shock absorbers you can find (probably Konis). Maybe some 3rd genners can chime in with spring selection...

You are right, thanks! I have in Argentina some spring's factories, one told me that what they had for maxima lowered 1.8'' and I needn't new struts. But mine are really old. I searched for Konis, they are too expensive for me, I think.
Anybody with a 3rd gen coud tell me what worked for him??

I would not suggest getting springs made at an Argentine spring factory...go with a recognized brand like H&R or Eibach. New struts are a MUST if you haven't replaced them before. Your factory springs are not "dead" (that's a myth), but your struts probably are.

Struts = go with some Tokico "blues" for OEM ride quality

if you lower it with anything other than eibachs i wouldnt get any shocks besides the konis, id set them about half stiff to get a good handling and fairly comfortable ride

with stock ride height or eibachs the tokico or kyb shocks will be alright

the tokicos have a bad track record for blowing on lowered cars within a year, there are tons of threads about this in the third gen forum

i had eibach with the tokico blues and it worked great for me. also fstb i had from courtesy nissan helped tighten the front up. courtesy doesnt make them anymore so you have to find one like the otto bar. after that if oyu still not happy try the addco rsb. had all these on my 3rd gen and really improved handling but will add up moneywise. also if you go with a rsb you WILL have to get behmco sway links cause the stock ones will break. i had some fitment issues with the end links so contact me if you are thinking about getting help oyu out. they are a great quality product though.
