Shifter trim piece idea/question

ok, so i always figured that the shifter trim piece from an auto would work to replace the commonly-broken trim on 5 speeds, and i was right.

the trim fits perfectly, and the shifter doesn't hit it at all (IMPORTANT: i have a 00-01 tranny, it might hit with the stock 4th gen tranny).

the only thing i have to figure out is how to attach the boot, as there are no clips on the auto trim. the only catch is that i want it to be easily removable (no glue) and fairly clean/non-ghetto (no duct tape ). any ideas?

hmm, that's a good idea actually, i'll see what i can do.

mine was broken really badly: cracked all the way through on both sides, AND a 2 inch long piece missing towards the back! the point of the thread was mainly to let everyone know that this works.
