I have been trying to find a used 5 speed max for 2 months, and cant find one anywhere. The dealers have even called around for me trying to find one to bring in and sell to me but havent had any luck. I see tons of people on this board with 5 speeds so they cant be that rare can they? Im startin to get kinda ****ed, I really want a 5 speed. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks

Did you try the newspaper? I think the last time I looked there were only 2 or 3 out of the 20 or so Maximas in there. I am not sure about the condition of them because I am not looking into getting one but I imagine finding a 5 speed that is exactly what you want in good condition with a certain mileage is not going to be easy. Did you try the internet? Try
www.cars.com
www.autobytel.com
There are many more sites like that on the internet. You will find one eventually. Good luck!

I know, 5spd maximas are rare. Only like 3% made are 5spd. It took me forever to find a 5spd. The dealers could never find me one. Search www.autotrader.com and search a broad area. You may have to be willing to travel to get one like I did.

didn't realize that 5speeds were so rare. . . I just kind of ran into mine at the used car place. Was not even looking at Maxima's at the time either. Now I would not trade it for the world! I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh yea... my advice is if the max doesnt say its stick or auto call and make sure... i kept my eye on max's for about a year and when it came down to buyin them the 3 sticks 200miles away were sold within two days... i just about gave up, then i called for this max with almost no info, it turned out to be a low mile stick... and yea.. u mite have to sacrifice it all to get a stick.. mine came with hubcaps and only a cassette player =) g'luck... try lotsa diff resources... try the magazine auto trader, online autotrader.com, cars.com .... everything

I'll sell you mine for $18k. That's how much I still owe. The payment is stopping me from getting my own place. I figure I'll jump on a 90 SE or something like that.

I live in Pueblo Colorado(about 150 miles south of Ft. Collins) and I just got my dads max and am just putting my old max up for sale. It is a 1985 SE with 150,000 miles on it. I am the second owner and both the first owner and I parked it in the garage the whole time we owned it. I have babied it also, every time something broke I had it fixed imedatley. I'm looking for $5,000 but it is a little negotiable. Private message me if you have any questions or if you are interested in one that old.

I live in Denver and it took me about 2 months to find the right 5 speed car at a good price.

I actually found my car at Traderonline.com where it was advertised by a small used car dealer on West Colfax Ave.

Paid about $2500 under book because the car was a little rough around the edges. It has cleaned up nicely now.

Saw several 5 speeds while I was shopping but all were too much $$ - until I located the SE I ended up buying.

Sprintmax, Im looking for a 96 and up. Well probably not a 2000 or 01 because they will be too much. Im trying to stay around the price of my auto Max that I just put up for sale a few days ago. I would rather the car be under 80k miles. My 97 GXE Auto has 90K on it now and is still in perfect condition exterior interior and engine. Im just longing for a 5spd. I would say im looking for one under $11K. Thanks for the help and thanks again to everyone else that replied. Its about time a few Coloradoans showed up around here, I thought I was the only one. Anyway, take take and thanks again!

If you check the stats, you'll find that Nissan only produces about 3% of the entire fleet of Maxima's as 5-Speed Sticks each year. That may be changing for newer models.

Yeah..they aren't going to be easy to find. I'm darn glad I found my pristine '97 Super Black SE 5-Speed! Whoohoo!

Check it out at:

http://www.ravenimaging.com/maxima

Second page has it with the mods.. first page is how I bought it, stock.
