need help opening center console

Hi, I wanted to open my center console, including the bose hu. I got the bottom console off (the gear shift one) just by prying. After I got that out, I was trying to get the rest of the console off. I realized that there are two screws on the left and one right next to that small compartment. I took those out, but somehow i can't get the console out. I think its because that small compartment doesn't come off. I don't know how to take that off, tried everything. Anybody have a good howto or a step by step process? Thanks.

First you need to go up to the air vents and pry those out with a butter knife or flat head screw driver. then there will be two screws that hold in the climate control. after you have those out it should come right out.

You need to pop out the ashtray too. Its held in by one screw on the left side and then clips on the right side.

alright, so i it the screw on the left on top of this white bracket? How did you'll take that out. A normal screw driver doesn't fit in that small space.

Not sure what you are asking. Can you take a pic or be a little more detailed?

This is how I remove my center dash:

Pry out the Center AC Vent Assembly and disconnect all electrical connections.
Pry out the Shifter Trim and remove from the shifter (let it dangle to the side since the cig lighter will still be attached).
Remove 2 screws that were hidden by the Center AC Vent Assembly.
Remove 2 scews hidden by the shifter trim.
Pry out ashtray.
Remove 1 screw hidden by the ashtray.
Pull out center dash and disconnect all electrical connections.

and be careful those two top screws above the climate controls are hard as hell to find if they drop. Between the center console, trunk, and back seat it took almost 6 hours to install the stereo system lol

Are you talking about the screw that is behind the ashtray? Yea make sure you use both hands when getting out the screws b/c I had to take apart my entire shifter assembly to get to one that fell underneath it.

I had to send my BOSE stereo out for repair a while back and the stereo repair shop had removal instructions online. Their directions worked well and I didn't have to use a screw driver to pry the upper air vents out. After you remove the shifter trim and ashtray, remove the two bottom screws for the console assembly. Pull out on the bottom of the console assembly to create a gap between the A/C control and the Hazard/Clock/Defrost panel. While still pulling out on the bottom of the center console assembly to keep the gap exposed, grip the bottom edge of the Hazard/Clock/Defrost panel with your thumb of your free hand. Let go of the bottom of the center console and grip the Hazard/Clock/Defrost panel with your other hand in the same way. Pull out and up a little bit on the panel to release the clips on either end of the Clock panel. Once those clips are disengaged you can pull out and down to release the clips at the top of the assemply above the air vents. I didn't need to but it might be helpful to use a screw driver to pry above the vents as you pull out and down with the other hand. Once the vents are free you can access the two screws at the top of the center console assembly.

i would add that you should use caution when prying out the vents and not pry against the dash itself since it can easily be dented and might not straighten out, also the vents themselves could also break if prying carelessly. gl
