Auto trans locked up - 6 forward gears (kinda long)

Well, for the...third? time now, having automatic troubles. When it gets warm I start losing random gears, usually just 3rd and 4th, sometimes 1st, etc, so I installed a Hayden 401 trans cooler about a week ago to keep it's operability up for at least a little while longer during my drives.

Well yesterday I was driving around and I lost 2nd and OD, 1st would just not stop slipping and didn't want to shift out of it, basically kept me at redline with the clutches still slipping. Then, after I dropped by my local Nissan dealer to order the shift solenoid repair kit, I noticed that reverse and neutral are now apparently both forward gears, they both would creep forward under power and drove like normal if I gave it a little gas (later I did have it up on jackstands, disconnected the shift linkage and moved it manually and it did the same thing, so I know it's not the linkage to the shifter inside the cabin).

I was able to put it in neutral anyway and push it out of the parking spot. I got home, and went to do a 3 point in the driveway to back up into my parking spot, and when I tried pushing it, it wouldn't budge going backwards. I tried it in reverse, neutral, any and all of the forward gears, and out of frustration even park. Every single thing I tried acted like it was in park, rolling a bit and then hitting that park pin and refusing to go any further. I don't know what happened in between the Nissan dealer and my house (10 minute drive) but now it can't so much as be pushed backwards.

Anyone ever had this issue before? I've searched a bit but found nothing of relevance (actually 'auto trans locked up' only gets 4 hits between 4th and 5th gen forums, with nothing of substance). Right now I'm looking into getting a loan for a 5 speed swap, or maybe just replacing the trans one more time and trading it in somewhere...

Help, anyone?

Damn good question... I bought it from Carmax, within a month the trans went out slipping constantly and all, had it rebuilt under warranty, says they replaced TC, shift solenoids, all clutches and bands, etc. Then that one went out again, was like that for several months until I picked up a free '01 auto from Dixit in ATL, just had to swap my VB in (he had a VB mod and sold it prior). Now this is happening...I do know that most of my issues (before) were because of my shift solenoids, so I just special ordered that pack from Nissan at the cost of $120.

Admittedly the first one I beat on (before it was rebuilt), was at the track twice a week, with 5 or 6 runs every time. Stupid stuff like burnouts, whatever. Since that rebuild I don't really drive it hard at all, but...

My trans is 12 years old, i beat on it for about a year, and its perfectly fine. I'd say auto trannies dont like you and you now have an excuse for a 5 speed.

Yea, really. Maybe it's just this car...it's got a curse or something. I dogged the **** out of my dad's '01 Camry V6 (good ol' 1MZ) automatic for several months before I got the max and no problems...oh well.

I really am this close to just getting a loan for $1k and shopping around for all of the parts now...****ing automatics.
