Eibach or H&R springs, Sturts?, and other suspension Q's, Long...

As the title states, i have a 98 I30 (with a cheap FSTB if that matters), just hit 90k with it, auto but its pretty clear the stock shocks are starting to go, i was originally going to just get new shocks, but seeing that springs are about 225 from Tirerack.com (anyone know anything cheaper) i figure ill do them too, the car will be driven in the snow, so i dont want it to go down too low. From what i hear, for most cars Eibach is the way to go, but for 4th gens they are too stiff and make the ride suck, I want the car to feel BMWish or at least like a european sports sedan, firm and taught(sp), but not too stiff and un comfortable, from what i hear H&R would be the best choice here, but let me know what you guys think

As for shocks, again i want it stiffer than stock, but not real real stiff, still has to be comfortable ove NY states crappy highways and rough roads, adjustable would be nice, but not needed if you guys have a good reccomendation. Also where should i get them, and how much will they bi (aprox)

Also should i replace all the rubber mounts and whatnot on this car while im doing this, if so where should i get them, what pieces would i need and again how much about should i be lookin at price wise?

Finnally, would any other additions help while im doing all this (ill do my brakes at the same time but ive got that stuff already) like a Rear sway bar, RSTB, and so on? and how long can i expect this stuff to last (the springs i hope for a long long long time, but shocks on those springs whats reasonable)

Thanks for any help, i realize i have about 40000 questions in here, thanks for putting up with it.

Also.... (you knew i wasnt done) if it matters i have 16in chrome wheels for the summer, but go back to the 15's for the winter

It sounds like you want some H&R's and Illuminas. They ride very smoothly and eliminate most body roll. They are a little more expensive than the others, but they are well worth the money.

East....

Don't replace only your front struts. Get a full set of Tokico Illuminas and do all 4 corners at the same time.

"Tower struts"?? You mean strut tower bars?

NEVER buy ANYTHING from BOMZ. EVER.

But in general, generic strut tower bars are fine unless your suspension is very stiff and/or you're REALLY picky about how your car feels.

Let me take this opportunity to wish you luck in making your car feel Euro.

That said, it's going to be a function of your entire setup, not just springs. So, here are my recommendations:

Springs: H&R or Eibach
Shocks/struts: Tokico Illumina or Koni Yellow
RSB: Stillen (because it's adjustable -- set it to the softest setting)
Chassis stiffening: BlehmCo Stage II Lower Tie Bar, Otto Racing FSTB, and generic RSTB

Eibachs do have a rep for being harsh, but most people don't have Koni Yellows. They work very well to keep even stiff springs in check. The Konis would be great with any spring, but if you're going with H&Rs then Illuminas would be just fine.

Yes, springs should last long enough that it will never matter. On rough roads, you can probably expect 50k-75k miles from your shocks before they start to go soft, although Tokico Illuminas and Koni Yellows have lifetime warranties so you're pretty safe whatever happens.
