Installing a SCD-N66 CD changer in the trunk
I’ve just “won” (for about $135) a USA SPEC SCD-N66 6 CD changer off of the Bay. I’ve got a stock Bose system in my ’98 SE
Now, lying on my back in my trunk last night holding a flashlight in my teeth and looking up at the inside of the rear deck – nothing that I would call an obvious mounting point was really making itself apparent.
My question: Have people that have installed changers in their trunks all had to drill mounting holes? If so, does the rear deck carpet piece just pop off? Or is there some magical combination of pre-existing holes that one can use to mount the changer – which I hope is the case. Thanks!

I'll try to check how mine is mounted when I get home. My father installed mine in the trunk a long time ago. I also have to check the connection cause it doesn't even turn on anymore.

But most of them are installed on the driver side on the floor.

I installed it under the passenger seat even though directions tell you not to. I figured the I30 Limiteds have them under pwr seats.. no reason why I can't. After a month, my seat and Changer still works beautifully.

hey man
i installed mine last night. what i did was, drilled holes similar to where this guy did...well i cant find the like right now...but its like on the flat surface that runs paralell to the 3rd brake light. when you open the trunk...look at the rubber gasket wherethe top of the trunk closes. there is a flat metal surface. mount itthere.
then i used SCREWS that were included to screw it in. it says use the bolts and nuts, but i didnt see how that was gonna work. maybe when i spend more time ill do that.
but this way seems to work well. i even duck taped it just incase. haha.
