Kinetics SSV Intake Manifold for Maxima?

I saw this thread for group buy for the Kinetics SSV Intake Manifold. WHat opinions do u have on this? Seems to fit Maxima since it fits Altima. Dang it looks good. Power gains seem slightly low for the price.

There was a thread on this a while back. It's a single stage intake, not dual like ours so it only gain power up top.

Is that a bad thing? With my reflashed ECU, I have quite a bit of power on bottom.

i say don't even bother with this manifold...considering it LOSES hp until like 5800...where it only gains like 5whp or something.....

I read a similar thread a while back as well and the consenses was , although it looks great, not worth the power loss for the price. In other words, no significant gains across any power band...

Well, there is a group buy on these which may sweeten the deal some. Actually it does lose power at lower rpms, but not that much power. The slight power loss is below 3500 and gains are 11.4 peak HP and 15.8 peak ft-lbs.

I dont think we are making any more power up top than the A33 are we? If so im baffled as to why, I do know I would like to make a significant amount of top end power in the future. Im just not a hands on guy. Oh, BTW Nmex, I know a guy with a 2k2 upper and lower IM I can pick up for 100 bucks but I remember u pointing out that ours had the EGR. Now I know this can be blocked so I assume I could run the 2k2 IM without throwing any codes? Hit me with a PM if you have some helpful info. Thanks. I still wanna see more dynos on that IM but its still too pricey for what it is.

If it costs a few hundred bucks to polish an IM, why not spend a few more and get 11 hp? I think the visual improvement is a factor as well.

The A34 heads also have a different part number.

The A34 valve springs aren't quite as stiff as the A33B springs either. I'm sure that accounts for a few HP.

Lower port angle is the only thing that comes to mind.

Since you have 6MT, it might be a good mod for you. Us 5AT's can't afford to lose mid-band power.

That's true, but this mod is really for those who live life on the redline.

haven't seen anything yet, you know those numbers that alti put out were untuned right, his AF probably got messed up and went lean on him at low end, thats why he lost power, I think with better tuning he could've have made better numbers.

but, he was there with those people and they didn't like what it put out, so I'm not sure if we can even get it to test it out on the max. not sure if they made more than one of it, they probably killed the project. I can't even find a number for that company..

My understanding is that there is a GB on this IM. So, I think they did make more than one unit. Yes, I do realize that it is untuned. Im sure programming the ECU and maybe one of the piggyback tuners would help the AF ratio.

Is reflashing like reprogramming? if so, how did you do it and does it make more power??

Reflashing is reprogramming. There is a substantial thread on this topic already. The power increase is wonderful. I believe the dyno on this was 17 hp.
