Well,
After balancing, and rotating the wheels, got the alignment done to the car, and balancing the wheels again i came to the conclusion that these wheels are just not gonna do it for my car.
The vibration is not as bad as before but it's still there.
I thought it was actually the car but with the original 17's (O.E.M. wheels) there's ZERO vibration.
I wonder what could it be? My mechanic inspected the wheels and balanced them twice. He even place the weights inside and outside the rims and assured me this time they were truly balanced. The wheels suck! Or could it be the cheap kumho tires?
Wheels are BSA (I know they are cheap)
Any feedback will be appreciated

here's what you do go back to the place you bought the wheels and tires. tell them you want to road force test them. what this does is tell the tech if the wheel and or tire are out of round. if they are out of round they should have no problem replacing them under some kind of warranty. btw i;ve seen alot of problems with kumho tires being out of round and having excessive road force

 

Can't go wrong with Rays Engineering 57C 17X7.5 GramLights and Yokohama AVS 235/45 R17 tires.

Do you have hub-centering rings installed on the wheels?

I took the car back to my mechanic and he noticed they forgot to install the hub-centering rings. DUh!
Problem fixed!
Wheels are loooking weird with the weights in the inside and outside of the wheel (lip) but hey, the steering wheel does not vibrate anymore.
I think I'm gonna sell these and buy the g35 18" wheels. Mmm.....

 

I'm suprised they even fit on in the first place with out the hubcentric rings.

 

same thing happened to me. had them balance the wheels and it came out perfect but there was still vibratons. turns out one of the wheels was bent.

 

Make them pull all of the weights and try to re-balance them with only the stick-on weights. (Aren't those called "static weights?")

 

They will fit because acorn-style lugnuts center the lug hole on each wheel stud, and if you use a proper star pattern, all 5 will work together to properly center the wheel on the hub. Even the slightest variation in torque on a lugnut will cause varioation that leads to vibration, however.

 

True... but I had a set of rims that required hub centric rings and they would not fit on properly with out it... It was pretty obvious. As soon as the ring was on the rim or hub they slid on with ease. Of course I never tried to forcefully install them with out the rings but this guy's mechanic must have had a severe mental lapse to install all 4 wheels with out the rings.

 

Then you are in danger of putting yourself in the "rims are worth more than the car" category.

 

My car is most definately worth more than $1200. More like 5 times that amount.

Can you fit staggered wheels in the i35 without the back tires rubbing?
I wanna get like 19x8 (front) and 19x9 (back) but I'm not sure if it will fit or if it will rub.

 

What are you gonna do when it comes time to rotate the tires?

 

he's gonna buy new tires lol.

 

falconey has staggered wheels on his A33 I30. Not sure on the dimensions or tire size though.

Might want to PM him.
