New Clutch INNNNNN!!!!

Well finally got the new clutch in. Clutchnet 6puk spuring hub, and the red pressure plate. Drove the car to work and wow it just feels nice. The Shifter is stiffer going into each gear which I actually like, and the engament point compared to the Spec stage 3 is so much lower. The car feels like it just wants to run away when I gas it a little. How many miles do I have to break it in for before I go all out. I havent boosted in about 4 months due to various problems and im really itching to press the pedal. Btw I also put a new oem flywheel in along with the clutch.

Heres a hint, in 6 months i replaced my clutch twice with a spec stage3, they are bad and dont hold the power, now i dont know what your making, but for me, it was a big no no.

spec stage 1 is worse than stock. The stage 2 would hold ok on 10psi if you didn't abuse it by slipping it alot, but its not enough clutch really.

Congrats on getting the clutch in and I hope you get those bugs worked out.

I broke mine in for about 800 miles. I had zero chatter for the first few 100 miles and after it started to get gripper and it developed some chatter. The chatter is not too bad and it might not be there at all if I didnt have solid mounts.

Can you slip the clutch from idle without chatter? Or do you have to rev over say 1500 rpms to not get chatter while slipping the clutch?

I eventually got a little chatter but I never paid any attention to it or what rpm I was at when I launched. It didn't happen often, I do however get a humming noise upon lauching soft. Im still driving on mine with a stock car

I got used to the chatter so I dont really notice it anymore. Engaging at idle, I think it does get very little chatter.

I got chatter on the Clutchnet Red + 6-puck until about 1500 miles, then it slowly faded. I do hear a metal on metal groan on cold mornings sometimes when backing out of the driveway - but it's very very minimal.

Now, I can't get it to chatter if I try it seems. I've had the clutchnet for 20k now and through 2 trannies. It grabs like the day I installed it. Great clutch.

Why two trannies ?? As I see it, the Clutchnet isnt as hard on the trans as say the ACT was on my old trans. Its a softer PP therfore less harshness on the trans ?? kinda right ?

The pedel pressure isn't what is hard on the tranny.

It is the total grip of the clutch, which is a factor of the predel pressure, PP leverage, and disk material coff. of friction.

Ive had an ACT clutch and a Clutchnet 6 puck. From owning both the Clutchnet is definitely the more agressive and "violent" clutch. It grabs hard and will break stuff if you are slamming gears making decent power on the stock transmission.

Actually, the first tranny I bought for my 5spd conversion with 125k miles on it and had an ACT clutch that exploded in it. A few months later, bearings inside it went. I then went VLSD and Clutchnet - that tranny is holding up fine as is the Clutchnet.

You'll also notice that the clutch below, the ACT "Stage 1" disc - only has 4 springs (should have 6) - that's because the people that sold me the clutch shipped me one for a SENTRA and didn't tell me. The receipt even said "95-99 Nissan Maxima, ACT Stage 1 Disc".

Held up OK for almost a year....then one run at the track on slicks......poof!

How come the springs on the clutchnet are soo small and so covered ? They really arent exposed alot and are really small ?

Any ideas ?

My guess would be:
a) They have to fit them all into a fairly small place, as there are 6.
b) Covered so they don't pop out?

Seriously - I don't know - but I see what you mean, as illustrated in the pic below.

I just gotta get these fans working and then I can get some miles on this clutch. I hope it stops chattering a bit.

Keep it Under 55mph and Under 3000 rpms for 800-1000 miles, Correct ??

I never heard the "under 55mph" part before, but I did keep it under 3500RPM for 1500 miles. (I went overkill - it stoppedchattering around 1000)

Clutch recommendation

Can anyone make a good recommendation for a good racing clutch for a 2000 SE? I am currently using a NISMO stage 1, and must say that my stock clutch was much better than the NISMO. Please help because I think that my NISMO might be getting ready to go anyday now.
