MaximaGirl On FUSE TV

I was just randomly flipping throught the channels, and stopped on FUSE to watch some music videos. The show playing was called "Drive Stories" Out of nowhere you see Brooke, and her cars in the backround. I was like WTF! hahah. She was talking for a bit about herself & her passion for cars. You saw a few shots of the cars with them driving and stuff, that's about it. Funny thing is, as I was typing this, they showed her again, with her GF that is into cars too, at the dragstrip. Kinda cool to see FUSE & Brooke, representin' the Maxima's on TV.

I suppose I'd be obliged to give 'props', but I can think of people whom are 10-fold the enthusiast and have put 100-fold the work she has into her car to recieve 0 recognition.

Congrats are in order as the car is nice, but I remain steadfast in my belief that those far more deserving have been chided of due recognition.

doesn't she live in SLC or something?

Not that I have anything against that, but I find it odd that they would track someone down there to do a video clip of. Kind of out of the way of mainstream CA/FL/NY

props to someone with a Maxima getting recognition.

passion for cars is nice....but I only really give TRUE props to people who do all (or at least most) the work themselves......taking the car to "performance shops" or whatever just means you can pay someone money to trick your car out. Anyone can do that.

I'll give her full credit for "designing" what she wanted done with the car (though it's not my cup of tea) and for following through on getting it done....but let's face it, would she be winning as many shows or getting attention on FUSE if she was a bald guy with a mustache and beer guy? I think not.....

I agree with Dan.....there are alot of guys who never get any publicity/visibility for all the work they do on their maximas. Look at Matt (mardigras) with his insane power. Look at Brian (Bejay) running a maxima at SCCA nationals. Look at Dan with his awesome creative interior mods. Any of them getting featured in magazines, tv, or anywhere else. Hell no...because they don't have...er..."sex appeal."

IMO, if you don't have 10 t-shirts covered with grease and oil sitting in your utility room, you're not working hard enough! Maybe she does, I don't know. Maybe I'm completely wrong.

Brooke's cars look good, for what she is going for and she clearly takes good care of them. Does she deserve credit? Sure.....but maybe not as much as some others here who don't happen to have "female qualities" to go with their cars Then again, maybe she does. We are all judging based on limited information and knowledge about what she "actually" does. In my line of work we call that an "incomplete assessment" and it is generally frowned upon.

that, or maybe I'm just jealous that I wasn't on FUSE

I'm curious - have you made any efforts to contact FUSE, or do expect them to knock on your door?
What did Brooke do?

No. We are not spoiled by daddy, have ***** and a pretty face, and can easily make a mark in a male-dominated sport for the mere fact of our sex. We have to graduate from colleges, have real jobs, buy our own houses, and pay our own bills. Many of us would not contact FUSE because we all know d'amn well in advance they would not even bother to take our name down.

Brooke was given certain 'advantages'...and it wasn't elbow grease or a mechanics hands...

CoolMax, I implore you to look through my posts. You will find that I rip on numerous people for being spoiled brats and never having to do anything on their own. It's no different here. Fact of the matter is, there are only a handful of .org member whom, I can honestly 'look up to' and 'give props'.

The rest, I will indeed acknowledge the aesthetic of one's ride...but unless you did it yourself...sorry, I won't respect it.

are you asking me, or someone else?

My "jealous" comment was facetious. If she had been on speedvision with her car, THEN I would be jealous, haha..... Fuse is a music channel last I checked

Sorry if I don't kiss her **** like alot of people here do just because she looks like this

Don't even try to tell me that you wouldn't flame her if she looked like GBAUER or something

to everything you've said. If she was a guy, she'd get flamed out of here for Razor kits, CustomMaxima banners, and CF invader hoods.....It sounds mean to say, but it's entirely true and you all know it. It is all good, though, to do what you want with your car. And we've all been flamed for things we've done. I know Brooke has been flamed before, and props to her for not over-reacting and getting too defensive like some people do.....

My biggest complaint: all those pics on her cardomain page, and I don't see a single one of what's under the hood or in the suspension. 10 pages...NO suspension, brakes, or engine photos. There are about 100 pics of the trunk interior though...I want to see the rest!

well i really have no clue about what she has done to her car and what she hasn't done, but i can tell you one thing. She takes DAMN good care of it. You should have seen at maxus, it was ~100 degrees out and when everyone was taking cover under the shade, her and Tom (Bluesbrekr) were out there for well over 2 hours fine detailing their cars. I agree that if she were some old fat guy, she wouldn't have been on FUSE, but you have to give her at least some credit, because from what i can tell, she is very devoted to her cars. just my opinion...

That because HER CARS ARE OWNED BY HER SPONSORS AND SHE IS LEGALLY OBLIGATED TO PRESENT THEM IN THE BEST POSSIBLE FORM. She can't even drive one of them unless it's to shows only! Taking care of her car is her JOB. Make sure you give props to the deep-fry cooker at McDonald's next time he serves you up a batch.

I should have gotten sponsors for my car and written to magazines and such

If there is one thing I've noticed and it's pretty much always spot on, the guys who are really serious about and enjoy working on their cars don't have all the flashy attention grabbing stuff. The car does what they want it to do, and it does it well. Some personal touches here and there, but the thing that grabs your attention on those cars isn't a body kit, paint job, or other crap but instead the quality of the work which only others like them notice.

If you disagree and have ever taken your car to a shop for anything other than AC or allignments, I don't care

I'm well aware of what you've done to your car and it's 10x more than what most people have done.
Then again, not everyone has the same mechanical/electrical skill sets. Should they make do without modifications and shun any recognition?
I didn't install my springs/struts/shocks - so where do you draw the line?

Yes, but that's not the issue here. Were I afforded the same opportunity other people had, I can assure you I'd have taken things ALOT further.

I had never painted/wrapped/upholstered/fiberglassed/changed my own oil/DONE ANYTHING CAR RELATED until I found this site. You want to talk about enthusiasm? Enthusiasm is diving into something you know NOTHING about and taking it as far as you can.

I don't recall where I said this.

I didn't install my springs/struts/shocks - so where do you draw the line?:wall
I don't care what you did / didn't do. I draw the line at recognition being not being given to the people whom deserve it FAR more. Blackbird comes to mind. Blackbird has one of the best d'amn tuned 5th gens out there...AND he did it himself...through his own sweat and money.

If you want recognition then you have to go out and find it. Sure for some it will be easier because of what they have and who they know. That's what life is today. We all know exactly what you're saying but it isn't going to change so why dwell on it. So you have three options: 1) try and rally up a protest (which will be highly unsuccessful), 2) do like I said and go find recognition (because it's not just going to show up on your doorstep, or 3) quit complaining and accept the misdirected recognition for what it is.

Apparently a lot of you haven't seen the show. After seeing this thread, I found, and watched the show last night (not the one with Brooke in it). During the show, there was not one girl shown (not counting the ones in the two music videos they showed between showing the cars). However, you did hear the voice of one girl talking about the custom paint job on her car (actually I think it was a truck).

The show focused on a car club (edit: Dangerous Obsession?) in NJ where the head guy was, in fact, a chubby white guy in his 30's. He was the one they showed the most, and did most of the talking during the first part of the show. After that, they went on to showcase different members of the clubs rides (the head guy's car was shown late in the show). Not one of the members they showed talking about/showing off their cars had any sex appeal IMO.

The show, at least last night's episode, is nothing but rice. They talked very little about the go aspect of the cars, and spent a lot of time on the people's strobes and LED's. The guys in last night's show did all (or most) of the work themselves, and in between every segment FUSE would put a question on the screen, and asked for people to send in pictures of their rides (presumably to try to get onto the show).

I think that most of the people in this thread are focusing on the wrong thing. I think we should appreciate the fact that maximas in general are getting some kind of recognition. I mean, you have to admit that maximas aren't exactly the topic of discussion in every car magazine such as civics and M3's, so IMO it's very impressive and I appreciate the fact that this car was being featured, regardless of the owner. Dan, I guarantee you that once you finish making your exterior looking good, if you show magazines/tv shows some interest, that your car could get the same treatment, because so far, it is truely amazing.

I hate to say it, but 90% of the people out there could give a rat's *** how a car performs, and they're more focused on the bling factor and how the car looks. They don't care who put in the wrench time, or how well it can corner, but instead they care about unique paint jobs, putting 19 screens on the interior, and having huge chrome wheels. This isn't going to change any time soon, so I doubt highly that people like blackbird or mardi are going to be featured like maximagirl was any time soon.

We just need to look at it in a better sense, and be proud that our four door family sedans are being appreciated and admired by others...

I think its cool that a maxima made it on a tv show at all considering all the other nice rides out there that people always show one tv. I really dont care if she did the work herself or not. Hopefully more maximas will be talked about like hers.

You pay for A/C and alignments?

Those tools right there are less than the cost of one A/C job and 4 wheel alignment.
