Dealer wont change mileage on cluster?!

My cluster died on me a little while ago (odometer and trip-ometer no longer move) I picked up one on eBay but obviously the mileage wont be the same, I went to the dealer to get it changed and he said we don’t do that here? He told me if this happens we can order a new one and when its ordered we specify the mileage and it comes pre-set.

What’s going on I remember reading earlier thread of guys says that the dealer did it no problem? Can anyone verify this?

Most cases you have to fill out a form at the DMV that states its a different odometer reading. Last time I did it it was free.

Take it apart and the wheel that controls the trip on the right, roll it backwards. The mileage will start to roll back, it takes a while but works fine. Going forward is alot easier than going backwards, and it is undectable when done.

Needs to be programmed. Nissan actually outsources any/all mileage changes.

the dealer wont do it because it's illegal you'll be lucky to find someone to do it for you , you might have to do what the dealer told you.

You can send voltage to the gauges and simulate accelerated milage.

Whoever has the 5th gen cluster did it. Sorry I couldn't give credit.

I'll see if I can find it.

you can do what fr33way has mentioned, it'll be free, or if you can't do that, there is a company that does it, for a fee, i can't remeber of the top of my head but i can find out at work tomorrow. I got the name of that company from the honda dealership when i needed to get a milage correction on one of the guages. I don't know how much since i have not send out the honda cluster yet. I was actually thinking of sending the voltage outine to save the company some money. anyways, i'll try to get the name of that company tomorrow night.

I looked into this.

First, the dealer is probably refusing on account that you didn't buy the cluster from them. They love to make their 1.2x retail on parts prices, and that policy just enforces it.

Second, there are probably other shops in town that will do it. Call around, and if a shop doesn't do it, ask if they know who does. In my state, you just need to bring sufficient evidence that you're doing this above the table.

It's not a bad idea to also ask your DMV about it. It took a couple days to get back to me, but they gave me an answer.
