brake noise,need help please.

when i am at a complete stop and i step on the brake pedal i can hear a grr sound. it only happens when i am stepping on the pedal coming from the left front. sometimes i hear a metal click sound when im rolling slowly and press on the brake pedal. once again it comes from the front left osund. its kind of annoying but i have no idea. if anyone has some info on wat i should do please let me know or email me at rogroc325@yahoo.com thanks guys

Hey Roger, does this happen when you're coming to a stop slowly?..if so, I have the same exact noise, it dosn't happen when I'm coming to a stop quickly. Let me know if you get this resolved.

yeah it happens when im going slow and sometimes when im at a complete stop. my friend told me it could be needing to grease the bolts that hold in the caliper since there is a boot on there or even try greasing the pivot joint of brake pedal against the interior firewall. im gonna prolly take it apart over the weekend and grease it all up and put it back together to see if it helps.

someone must have gone through this problem before, please help.

Maybe the pads are starting to wear thin. I know I had the same problem and when I took my wheel off and checked the pads they were severely thin. After I changed them I haven't heard the sound since.

I think its ur brake shims making contact with sumthing in motion. Also, a few months ago, i purchased sum cheap duralast ceramic pads, dont' ask me y, worst mistake of my life, never go cheap wen it comes 2 brakes, and maximas period. Anyway, it was having da same effect as ur condition. Do u have ceramic pads?

I think im having the same problem. I got raybestos QS pads. and used the shims that came with them. I think im gonna stick with OEM pads and shims.

problem fixed!! it was the boots on the mounting bolts for the caliper. i noticed that they were busteda dn all the grease came out of them. relaced the boots and bolts with some fresh grease and now i got superb braking again. both sides were frozen so there was a total of 4 boots and bolts i replaced. hope this helps you guys too

also why would only one side make noise if it was the pads? could the rotor make the sound? if i hit the brakes hard it doesnt make the noise.

for me it wasnt the pads making the noise,it was the caliper bolts. the boots were ripped and all the grease came out of them. so the bolts couldnt move and were freezing.
do you have crossed drilled rotors? they usually make a whirring sound. wheni hit the brakes hard before it wouldn't make the sound either. jack up your car and check out them little rubber caliper bolt boots.
