Does my GXE have a Remote Keyless Entry System

Is there a way to tell if your GXE has a remote keyless entrysystem? Or do you have to dig in the trunk to look for the system?

it should, mine did. you could check in the trunk near the power antenna for a silver box just in case. you should be able to buy a little stock remote for like $25 off of eBay and use a tutorial from here to install it on yours. that's what i did, and it took less than a minute to get it to work. best $25 i ever spent on the car because you can roll the windows down w/ the remote (which really came in handy this summer in TX w/ a black car). and mine is a 98 GXE if that makes a difference.

yeah i got the security light on the left side of the steering wheel. Is that the only indication that my car has the system? Or can you have the security light and not have remote Keyless entry?

if you have the security light you have remote keyless entry and if you hold the unlock button it will roll your driver and passenger window down

Can't you tell my trying to program a remote? The first step is with the door closed and locked to insert the key in and out of the ingnition until the hazards flash, if they flash then you have keyless entry.. Thats how I checked before I bought my remote.

Look in your trunk on the right side under the molding. There should be a silver box there. That is your remote entry receiver

I know my car has the little silver box.. but i'm wonder if i can just buy any OEM remote off ebay and get it to work with my car?

All the auctions talk about comparing FCC or something, numbers with the old remote (which i was never given), do they matter at all?

ebay warns you to make sure you get the right remote, anyways, hell with the numbers, look at the remote to see how many buttons it has, it should have four (panic, lock, unlock, trunk) nissan or infiniti, doesn't matter. Also, make sure it is the 4th gen remote and not the squarish looking one for newer nissans. gl
