Anybody replaced steering rack bushings????

Anybody replaced steering rack bushings????

The bushings on my car look bad.. i wanna know if u have to remove the entire rack or do the bushings have a slit in them....

this pic looks like they have a slit..

they should have a slit.

Replacing one side (driver, iirc) is easy, but to get to the other side you need to remove either the y-pipe or the cross member - I don't remember exactly - because something is blocking the nut.

There is a specific order in which to tighten the bolts.

You need to drop the y-pipe to remove the passenger side mount.

Driver side mount is a little easier.

The bolt tightening order isn't mad science - basically torque them all down little by little so they don't pinch the bushings.
