What are some essential items you always carry in your car?

I was wondering what everyone considers an essential item/tool that they always keep in their car, so maybe I can get some ideas in case I'm missing something.

I always have the following:

tire pressure gauge
simple toolbox with misc. metric sized wrenches and ratchet sockets
Armor All interior wipes to deal with the constant dust
Lexol leather conditioner and microfiber towels
100-LED flashlight I bought in China for $5, lasts 24 hours straight on 4 AAA bateries!

So let's hear what you guys have

What I'm missing (IMO) : emergency kit, flashlight, disposable camera, toolbox, pocket knife.

you live in NYC and you don't have a club??

You can separate two parts of the club, and it will be just as affective (if not more) as a baseball bat. And the club is right next to you, so you don't even have to get to the trunk to take it.

Edit: my bad, you don't live in NYC lol

Some of the best advice I have heard is to get one of those LED snake lights with magnetic base (can be used as a worklight or signal flare) and a pair of vise grips (instead of sockets and wrenches).

Surprised no one has mentioned basic stuff like reflective triangles, mechanics wire, gaffers tape, multi-tool, first aid kit, space blanket, bottled water, collapsible snow shovel, jumper cables, fire extinguisher, disposable camera, etc. I used to carry all that stuff and more for emergency repairs in my old beaters, but ever since getting the Max, I've been throwing stuff out because the car has been so reliable.

Just about the only thing I have used are the jumper cables...and that's only because every year I seem to run into at least 3 smoking hot women (and a couple ugly ones) who leave their light on. They are always very grateful to find a guy with jumper cables. Nothing makes you a hero faster than saving someone's day. But I find it surprising in this age of auto headlights, especially since the last few I helped out drove luxury cars (Jag, Land Rover, MB, Audi, etc.)...and they had AAA or factory roadside coverage.

- Pens/Pencils

- Swiffers (for dash)

I always try to keep as little in my car as possible. It always ends up being full of everything. Usually i keep the current Maxim mag...serves 2 purposes, 1to read(for friends) and 2 as a rolling surface. Also i have my kit, which includes a grinder, papers, ready made filters(business cards cut in strips and held by an elastic), stuffer, card and clear eyes),it's kinda like my personal space for all my important things(center armrest). A man only needs 3 things, wallet, phone and keys

Black one of these, driving gloves, tire pressure gauge and some gum up front with me.

A toolkit, a 21mm 1/2" drive socket+wrench, and one of these mounted in the trunk:

Also had a 4 D cell in the trunk for backup, but I'm not sure what happened to it.

A full spare which isnt a real tire, it conseals a bunch of homemade weapons. A tool box but there aren't tools in there more like grandes, ammo, nightvision goggles.

In the glove box I have a police officers Beater stick. The ones that open up and get longer. Heavy duty Mag light.

Under the front lip I have a solid 3 inch wide steel pipe which is held in place by metal hold downs. On the side of the car under the kit I have a 2x4, usually leave it there for lifting up the car but incase of something it can be used as a weapon. In the back of my bumper mounted on the frame I have a CB radio unit.

Incase I cant get to anything right away In my door pocket I have a 7 inch knife to cut rope

Oh yeah I also have a steel chain with a on it lock under the intake where the knock sensor is for those moments your looking under your hood and need something.

What will i do without my jump-start system!! I ran out of batt very often using my radio at lunchtime, I should buy the yellowtop right away, oh well here is my list:
1-Jump-Start system
1-Flashlight and a pack of new batt
1-kleenex
1-first-aid kit (triangle/glowsticks/band-aid/blanket/etc)
1-jack, tools and spare tire
1-portable vacuum
1-bucket with car-wash stuff (armor-all/tire shine/wax/degreaser/microfiber clothes/etc)
1-Tire gauge
1-Sunshades
1-pack of disposable fork/spoon/straw
1-set of pen and notepad

And I'm missing a disposable camera, that's a good idea in case of a car accident.
