Help! How do I reposition the alternator?
Help! How do I reposition the alternator?
I'm switching out my V2 plate for the V1 today and noted that the top alternator bolt hole is off by 1/2". According to the Haynes manual there's a square nut to the left and underneath the top bolt but it looks like its tack welded to a small plate. Is this the nut I'm to loosen? My 5/8" open end wrench is the only one that will fit it and its not long enough to put my weight on it. Am I on the right track?
the bolt on the alternator is a long bolt and that square plate has the threading in it. That piece is to sit a specific way in front of the alternator so when the bolt is fully tightened the alty is secure.
Its a 14mm socket or a 9/16 (something like that I prefer my metric).

Thanks for the reply, MDeezy
So if I'm reading this correctly that square plate with the threading and a bolt sticking out slightly is really a pivot point and the top bolt is what secures the whole alternator?

Okay I answered my own question. I crawled underneath on the drivers side, peered over the center beam and over the Y pipe and saw the 14mm bolt head. Now I have to get another extension so that I can use the ratchet.
