ECU Fuel Cut

I read the how to for removing the fuel cut (100-115mph), but im unsure if i want to do it. Normally i would say screw that im not mod'n the ecu, but after last night im debating.

I was leaving a toll and i heard a turbo spooling and a loud exhaust creeping up behind me. A scion tc 5speed had just left the tool right behind me, and i guess my gen1 tails encouraged him. I heard him shift so at about 25mph i let my stock automatic maxima breath. I kicked his ***. BAD. Al the way till 100mph then i let off. At the next light, went from a stop. Same thing.

4-5 car lenghts each time, it was actually pretty sad (for him). Made me wish i had done the mod so i could have kept into it....so for those of you who have, how was it? Do you regret it? etc etc

SE96, he claimed you didn't read the thread, which was supported by the fact that you thought he got beat. Don't get pissed at him for no reason, especially when he asked a valid question. He didn't want to know HOW to do it, he wants to know about any driveability problems associated or any other problems. Settle down...

Yea well considering youre on public roads dont cut the wire. I dont need to give you a reason why going that fast is retarded. That and even if you went to a track you dont have mods to go that fast any how.

Maybe read the rules for the forums about posting street racing stories? That might help too. Just a thought,

Heh had it been tonight as opposed to last night he would have been going to jail for street racing. But i dont work every night, sometimes you have to enjoy life. Maybe my high speed/vehicle training and my badge should be taken into consideration before you jump down my throat. Dont preach to me about street racing and the dangers.

ffs now i remember why i dont bother asking questions anymore

Just buy an ugly small toggle/throw switch from radio shack and wire it up to the wire. You leave the switch on (connected) when driving normally so that the car doesn't throw a code and you can pass emissions. When the need for speed arrives, just throw the switch and BAM ... no limiter. There are no drivablity problems associated with it other than the fact that you will throw an ECU code if you cut the wire and don't have a switch wired to it.

interesting idea....and it doesnt hurt the car to suddenly flip the switch? I would imagine it is only safe with the car/key off

Oh no ... it won't hurt the car at all. In fact this isn't my idea. This has been in the stickies since I joined this forum. When it comes to hot-plugging (switch/plugging while electricity is flowing), it is pretty safe to do this against low-voltage readings. EX: Sensors and other fun stuff power off of 12V constant. NOT very smart to hot-plug these. However sensor READINGS are done sometimes from .1V-2V and it should be safe to hot-plug them.

They are basically "reports". So if the ECU doesn't get the "report" it just says, "*@#( it".

you arrest people for street racing? Why? If you do it yourself. And yes a badge and/or training should factor in. But not in justifying yourself for needlessly endangering others. Badge or not, it's stupid.

The streetracing is part of a new task force we started. We have been seeing a pretty heavy incline in the last few months with street racers so the city prettied up a 2004 RX-7 and a 2005 Civic and started a team designed to catch them.

The road is a common one for the street racers. There is a 12ft steel fence on either side with swamp behind it, so there is no animals or kids walking across. It was 3:30am, we were the only cars in sight and you can see for about 3 miles. On top of all that this guy is one of the racers we have had a hard time catching, so the fact that he engaged me, and saw me (window partway down) means that i need him to trust me, and the maxima, in order to bust him later.

So if my job brings me a little fun, im all for it. Thanks for the answers guys, helped me alot.

If u don't want to cut the wire, just click your o/d in 3rd un til you hit around 120, then click it back. Once u hit 120 your car has enough power to push thru o/d gear. Works with my GLE anyway.

That has absolutely nothing to do with what is being talked about here. GLEs don't have speed limiters, only GXEs do.

It has nothing to do with pushing through a gear, and as was said above your GLE had no limiter to "push through".

Well I have a gxe model and that 110 & 115 rule doesn't apply to me and I don't have a switch. I did mine on a dyno in 3rd gear which everyone knows has a speed limit of about 120 mph.

That would be because not all gxe's have it.
