What causes "ICY" to come on under the tach????

2002 Maxima SE...the only time I"ve seen this is in low traction conditions ie spinning the **** out of my tires etc...

The reason I ask is I just had new tires put on my car and had it aligned and the ICY light was on when I picked it up. Did they rape the crap out of my vehicle?

Icy means that it's cold and it sucks b/c the cold sucks and that my a$$ will freeze on the leather (didn't think I needed heated seats in the South)...

The owners manual states it will turn on @ 37*F and continue to blink as long as the termperature is below 39*F.

Wow, what a prime example of how random coincidences can lead someone to see a pattern of association that isn't really there.

So, essentially, you though that the ICY light was almost like a trac (traction) light..

You can view the entire owner's manual online at Nissan's website or at Courtesy parts website. I know this cuz I did not get a manual with my max.

who cares whether or not he has an owners manual? he asked a question it really doesnt matter. its easier to ask a question on here than look through your owners manual. and its really not that hard to say yes, it turns on at 37. just relax

your reffering to TCS light, ICY is different. TCS comes on when your wheels slip, ICY comes on when the temp outside is below 37.

Yeah TCS is different, I checked the temperature from the last time I was messing around and saw the "icy" light it was below the 37* threshold so it was a coincidence the first time I saw it Thanks guys

. I disagree, people should read the manual, stickies, search before posting questions. Especially ones for which the answers are so easily found.
