That's right LED bulbs for our gauges. It's number 24 bulb. I got a some in blue and white. I will take pics as I get them in. I am going to try the blues first.

i have a question, are these bulbs a direct replacement, or do u have to make them work? Will these work for a 5.5 gen? Because right after i bought my car, thats one thing thats been bothering me a lot.

They should be the same for both 5 and 5.5. They are in but have to wait till dark but they do work. This is how you have to work with them you have to have your dimmer connected. next if they don't light up you have to turn the bulb around in the twist lock. So far what I can see they light up great with the blue ones. Once I show pics I am sure everybody will be getting them you need 4 of them. I bought 4 white and 4 blues. I can't wait till dark. EDIT: the ones a bought are the super star ones 4 bulbs down on the page.

My camera doesn't due justice as everybody says when taking pics of lights. Here's the blue I will try the white ones tomorrow.

It's going to have light and dark spots unlike metal's lights but it doesn't bother me. it's better then the stock lights but not as bright and perfect like metals.

It's the picture. The white ones highlight the needles better then the blues. They are brighter then stock bulbs which is a plus not super bright like metal maximas. If you don't feel like taking apart your cluster like metal did this is a way to go. They also have bulbs on there too. I am thinking of getting some different faces cause one of my gauge rings slid down and scratched the face of the gauge. I got new rings and waiting for a couple other parts.

Looks ok. It would be better if there weren't faded areas. They look like a cluster off a early 90's vehicle with busted bulbs.

 

Side by side comparison with OEM bulbs would show the results better.

 

That's just the camera showing how it really is. If you'll look closely on your OEM bulb equipped cluster - the light also has hot spots.

 

i bet you could pick up a number 24 bulb from radioshack....i might check it out.

 

so all u did was replace the bulbs? u didnt alter the blue plastic thing ive seen in soo many write-ups?

 

aren't these the same size as the center console bulbs (temperature) so you would also benefit by upgrading those bulbs.

 

if you dim your dimmer, do the LED's dim?

 

why would someone want to dim it after upgrading them to make it brighter?

Your cluster looks modified, but would you say that overall it is brighter with these bulbs as opposed to oem?

brighter is good, but there are situations where you may want them dimmer.. Was it an easy install? Worth the effort and money for the results?

 

Yes they dim with the dimmer. My gauges are not modified other then the bulbs. I had chrome gauge rings which I am waiting to put back in. They are brighter then the OEM bulbs. Sure they got brighter spots but the still look better then stock.

so it was as easy as taking out the old bulbs and putting these new ones in? "plug and play" as asked in the above post? cause I never tried leds just cause i didnt want to go through all the work and pain of soldering, etc. plus I suck at that kind of stuff

 

yep plug and play. As stated earlier if they don't light up turn the bulb around in the socket.

 

sweet thanks for the quick reply... im definitely gonna be ordering these bulbs... another question do you think the bulbs right above the 24's the tri-power 4leds 24's will fit or they too big dimenions wise (15mm x 8mm vs. the 17 mm x 6.5 mm 24's you bought)?

you need 4 they have to be the 24 bulbs the top 3mled ones are the 74's.

 

How difficult is it to change out the gauge cluster bulbs? What's involved... and... uuh, how do you do it?

I've never messed with a gauge cluster before... but this seems pretty cool

 

indeed, a how to would be super.

 

i'll let someone else explain how to take apart the gauge cluster, but i will state this. do NOT turn on the car while any of the harness are unplugged, you will get a CEL and/or Airbag light. you can reset it, but it's just a PITA. in my case, when i did this a few years back, i just drove like that and after 25-30 restarts, the light disappeared on its own.
