car runs richer after cai install

Ok I got a 95 with a dek swap. I had a short ram on it before (just filter)
My air fuel was at like 13.3 across the the rpm band. now after the c.a.i install its like 12.5 to 12.3 acorss the rpms band. So did I lose power? But the kicker is when I had the short ram the highest I recorded on the safc was 53.2 on the air flow meter. But after the cai install I got 59.8 in air flow.witch means more voltage right? SO did I gain or lost big time? The maf is in the same place as before!

SAFC reads air flow usage = Higher %, measuring more air, therefore dumping more fuel.

It may be the way the air is hitting the element.

If you have a SAFC, take some fuel out.

.. What was that again?

Only way to know what your power level you're at is to dyno.

13.0:1 - 13.5:1 is where you want to be all across. So, in theory, yes you will gain power by taking fuel out and geting the a/f back into the 13's.

ok im totaly lost now. Ok the car want quit going rich. I took off the cai and wnet back to the short ram and my old setting on my safc. The same safc that would keep me at 13.3-13.5 across the rmps band. Well Now it foes into the 9's and 10's under half to full throttle. Well I check the ecu for codes and got these. Knock sensor and itake temperure sensor. Well I got 32,000 mile dek engine So I would not think this would be knock problem. I changed the intake sensor and its still goes rich!. Ok before I put the cai my vacumm was at 21 hg at idel now after putting in the cai it went to 16.8 at idel, and its still the same after changing back to the short ram the same set up that I would have 21 hg at idel. any one know what may have happend and what wrong?

if it made your mixture richer by putting a CAI, why not just add more corrections to put it back to 13's? you'll prob gain a couple hp's
