Any s/c owners have any prob with warranty>>>
My friend has a 97 Jetta VR6 with a s/c and NOS.(http://community-1.webtv.net/S-BARKER/SamsSupercharged/)
His car has been running kind of funny lately, so he took it down to the VW lot where he has the "lease' at. They did a leak down test and some other stuff. Than they fixed it and called him to come and get the car. They replaced the head gasket and valve cover gasket UNDER WARRANTY. I almost took a dump in my pants. I did not think they would warranty the car. The total for the labor and parts was like $800.00

Nope, they can't void your warranty
It is illegal for any dealership to void your warranty due to the installion of aftermarket parts. They can void certain parts of your warranty, but they can't void the whole thing. Dealerships can only decline warranty "if" they can prove that your aftermarket part or incorrect installation of the part caused the failure. An intake, catback will not cause any damage to the engine. A y-pipe is a no-no because you've tampered with the emissions system. Having a S/C will pretty much void most of the powertrain warranty because you car putting a lot more stress on the engine and tranny. Dealerships try to void warranty work because of mods, but ultimately they can't get away with it without proof. Sometimes it's just easier to go to another dealership.

so in effect, "technically" I can go and get my car s/ced and still ask for warranty work to be done on my car right? cept for say engine and tranny repairs since the s/c is suppose to give undue stress! or can I still get warranty work done on my engine and tranny?
CONFEWSED!
CONFEWSED!
Well since a head gasket is -->
almost directly related to the boost he's running, I would say he just got away w/ murder. I would be very suprised if one of the s/c'd maxima guys had the same luck.

I agree with Jeff
Yes it's true that you can still get warranty work done and supposedly they have to prove the mod did the damage, but it can work the other way around too. If it's something like blown head gaskets on a boosted car (not a factory option) the burden of proof is on you to prove the mod did not do the damage. Plus the benefits are not worth the risks in taking a dealer/manufacturer to court for most cases. (IMHO)

Good lord, a 120 shot??
This quite a big shot of nitrous to be running, isn't it? This wasn't GhettoMax, by any chance, was it? I don't remember how big a shot he was running, but I do remember claims of 12 sec timeslips and I think a blown piston ring.
I think you have to remember in all this...
that Nissan has been in deep financial trouble as of late and they will look for every excuse to get out of something that they don't have to do. That might explain the reason for VW (which does pretty well) doing the repairs (they want to keep their customers coming back and happy) versus Nissan trying to get out of doing anything.
